TEAM SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦

IBU KYODOKYOKUSHIN OPEN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS — TURKEY 2026

There are moments in life when we become part of something much bigger than ourselves.

Today is one of those moments.

It is with immense pride and a deep sense of honour that we announce the athletes who will represent South Africa at the IBU Euro Asia Open Championships in Turkey this November.

But today, we are celebrating something far greater than the selection of a team.

We are celebrating unity. We are celebrating diversity. And we are celebrating the realisation of a dream that many may never have thought possible.

Athletes from different dojos, different teams, different organisations, and different backgrounds — coming together, not as rivals, not as separate organisations, but as one united Team South Africa.

We may have travelled different paths, but today we stand together, driven by one common purpose, one shared dream, and one fighting spirit.

This is what makes this journey so special.

To our selected athletes, remember that you carry more than your own ambitions. You carry the hopes of your families, the pride of your instructors, and the honour of representing your country.

Compete with courage. Lead with humility. And above all, respect one another.

Because long after the medals have been awarded, the unity we build, the friendships we forge, and the example we set will be our greatest victory.

Today, we are not just announcing a team.

We are making history. We are building bridges. And together, we are showing what is possible when we choose unity over division.

Different paths. One purpose. One nation.

We are Team South Africa!

ENDURANCE IS ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT DISCIPLINES, BUT IT IS TO THE ONE WHO ENDURES THAT THE FINAL VICTORY COMES.

A GREAT DOJO IS BUILT ON MORE THAN KARATE.

A successful dojo is not measured simply by how many students walk through its doors, but by how many continue to grow, develop and proudly remain part of its community.

In our KYODOKYOKUSHIN dojo, we believe a strong dojo is built on four essential foundations:

CULTURE & BELONGING
An environment where respect comes before rank, humility replaces ego, and every student feels welcome, supported and valued.

PROGRESSION & PURPOSE
Clear development pathways that challenge beginners, experienced karateka and competitive athletes alike. Every student deserves the opportunity to progress at their own pace.

QUALITY INSTRUCTION
Instructors who lead by example, teach with purpose, embrace continuous learning and recognise the individual behind the belt.

CONSISTENCY & COMMITMENT
A professional, reliable and supportive training environment where discipline becomes habit, friendships grow and karate becomes part of everyday life.

People may join a dojo to learn karate. But they stay because they feel they belong, they see themselves improving, and they believe in what the dojo represents.

Our mission is not simply to develop better fighters or produce more black belts.

It is to develop better people, stronger communities and a lifelong passion for karate.

THIS IS THE SOUL OF KYODOKYOKUSHIN.
