As the wind died down (nah It didn't) while deconstruction was in progress, we as West Coast Racing sat and took stock of the event that just took place, and wow, have we a lot to be great full for.
We'd like to thank all who made this event possible, right down to the toilet janitors who had a crappy job keeping those toilets clean.
We feel blessed to have so many patrons who support us year in and year out . To our racing guys...your loyalty, sportsmanship and dedication is the reason Saldanha Drags has grown into one of the most anticipated high speed events in the country where records are set and PB's are broken. A special word of appreciation goes out to our two out of town competitors who made the effort to come and experiences SALDANHA DRAGS all the way from Joburg and Durban. I bet you are hooked now and will definitely be back going forward.
To the West Coast Racing crew...Thank for your part in helping the event reach the 20 year mark. YOU GUYS ROCKšŸ’Ŗ

Yaseen Ebrahim aka is no stranger to Saldanha Drags. Over the years we’ve seen his R35 Nissan GT-R wear many different liveries. But lately, he’s taken a different approach. These days the GT-R is a stealthy, all-black assassin. No flash, no fuss… because all of Yaseen’s focus has shifted to one thing, SPEED.

This year he’s been chasing that elusive 300 km/h, the magic number that has slipped through his fingers at the last event.

But not this time.

On his very first run of the day, Yaseen lined up, built boost, and sent it straight out the gate. When the numbers popped up, the commentator erupted: 304.8 km/h!!! The barrier was broken at last. But Yaseen wasn’t done. Not even close.

As the day wore on, he refined the tune, studied the conditions, and waited for his moment. Late in the afternoon, he rolled back onto the 800m strip with intent. Calm. Focused. Locked in. What followed was an absolutely devastating full-send pass that crossed the traps at a scorching 307.4 km/h.

That speed went completely unanswered for the rest of the event, crowning Yaseen the King of Saldanha Drags 2025.

Well done Yaseen. You earned this one the hard way, and it shows.šŸ†

The King of Saldanha Drags (Bikes Division) for 2025 is none other than Sandy Roux. Coming off a blistering PB of 313.66 km/h from the previous event, Sandy arrived with quiet confidence and left with a brand new crown.

In the final runs of the day, when the wind was at its absolute worst and most riders were packing up, Sandy did the opposite. He suited up, rolled to the line, and sent it. The result? A monstrous 320.1 km/h top speed, fired down the 800 m strip in conditions that would make most seasoned racers think twice.

It was a statement run. A championship run. And the one that officially sealed his status as the King of the Bikes at Saldanha Drags.

Massive congratulations, Sandy. That was pure class.šŸ†

Saldanha Drags Driver of the Day goes to none other than Royston Prestage aka . Royston is easily one of the most well-loved characters in the series, hustling his iconic VW Golf MK1 year after year. Royston has been on a personal mission, forever chasing that elusive improvement on his long-standing 269 km/h PB. Every event, he lined up with hope… and every event, the dream slipped just out of reach.

But not this year.

In the dying moments of Saldanha Drags 2025, with the infamous Saldanha headwind at full wrath, Royston rolled up to the 800 m strip and decided he wasn’t leaving anything on the table. Foot down, eyes up, everything on the line. His Golf disappeared into the distance, the crowd holding its breath, until the commentator’s voice cracked through the speakers:

274.55 km/h!!!

The crowd erupted. Social media lit up. And just like that, Royston’s years of grit finally paid off. He didn’t just break his personal best, he etched his name into Saldanha history as the fastest front-wheel-drive driver ever at the event.

A massive well done to Royston. You’ve earned every bit of this moment.
