I honestly didnโt think Iโd get this. ๐
80kg. 4 reps.
And Iโm 65.5kg.
I just looked at the weight and thoughtโฆ let me see if I can actually move it.
And somehow I did. ๐ I did drop the weight and did another 8 just because in my mind doing 4 reps feels useless (donโt ask ๐)
At 43, Iโm stronger, fitter and healthier than Iโve ever been. And that feeling of surprising yourself is honestly one of the best feelings.
Itโs not even about lifting heavy.
Itโs about realising your body can do things you didnโt think it could.
Maybe youโre capable of way more than you give yourself credit for too. ๐

I probably look very serious when Iโm walking through the gym ๐๐ง
But honestlyโฆ whatโs going on in my head is usually the complete opposite.
Iโm singing, dancing, laughing, talking to myself and probably making some ridiculous face between sets. ๐
Yes, I train hard. I push myself. I want to get stronger and I love seeing what my body can do.
But Iโm also having fun.
And I think thatโs one of the biggest changes for me.
Iโm not training because I hate my body or because Iโm trying to punish it into looking different.
I train because Iโve learned to love this body โ ALL of it. The strong parts, the soft parts, the imperfect partsโฆ all the things that make me ME.
And funny enough, thatโs when I started seeing the biggest changes.
Maybe loving your body first really does change everything. ๐ค

Ladies, can we talk about something I see ALL the time in the gym?
Women doing the same weights, the same reps, week after weekโฆ and then wondering why their body isnโt changing.
This morning I decided to pick up a heavier dumbbell just to see if I could do it.
I got 6 reps.
So now Iโve got a new goal: get that to 8โฆ then 10โฆ then 12.
And once I can do 10โ12 reps with that weight?
Iโm going up again.
Thatโs how you get stronger. Thatโs how you challenge your muscles. Thatโs how you actually create change.
And honestlyโฆ
If you can have a full conversation while doing your set, you probably arenโt working hard enough.
If you finish every set with loads left in the tank, you probably arenโt working hard enough.
If you never add weight to the machine because it feels โcomfortableโโฆ
You guessed it. ๐
You probably arenโt challenging yourself enough.
And before someone says, โBut I donโt want to get bulkyโฆโ
Sharon. Please. ๐
You are NOT going to accidentally become a bodybuilder because you picked up a heavier dumbbell.
Building a lot of muscle takes years of consistently training for it AND eating to support it.
So no, Iโm not telling you to go and deadlift 200kg tomorrow.
Iโm saying stop underestimating yourself.
Add a little more weight.
Get one more rep.
Try the heavier dumbbell.
Make the last few reps HARD.
Your body needs a reason to adapt.
And if every workout feels easy, comfortable and exactly the sameโฆ
youโre not really training.
Youโre just exercising.
Thereโs a difference. ๐ช๐ผ
Next time youโre in the gym, ask yourself:
โAm I actually challenging myself, or am I just going through the motions?โ
That little question might change your entire workout.

Iโve been in the mood for my momโs curried mince so obviously I had to ask her for the recipe in the hope that it tastes like hers!
Her recipe and Chutney and apricot jam and I decided to opt for less sugar but still keep the flavor. It was a success ๐

One day youโll pick up a weight that used to feel impossibleโฆ and youโll smile.
Not because it was easy.
But because youโve become stronger.
Thatโs the kind of progress worth celebrating. ๐
