Animal flow is excellent. Ground-based, intelligent, real mobility gains. But honestly, without spreading hate, it's actually just movements stolen from a 400 year old artform and marketed incredibly well. After 20 years of being full immersed in this art, i can tell you, nothing beats the real thing. There is a reason why it survived 400 years.

Quick thought for anyone based in the Bryanston corridor: you've probably driven past The Campus a hundred times without knowing what's inside.
We recently wrote a guide about the training options clustered between Sloane and Main, because most people just pick the closest gym. But if you're looking for something that actually fits how you live and train, it's worth paying attention to what's available here.
Capoeira at Capoeira Valente gives you something different. It's serious training, community focus, and a practice that builds strength and strategy in ways most gyms don't touch. Kids classes Saturday mornings, adults and teens Monday and Wednesday evenings at 17:45 and Saturday mornings at 10:00. First class is free.

Inversion Training in Sandton: What Going Upside Down Does to Your Brain You're standing on your hands for the third time this week. Your palms grip the mat. Your shoulders burn. But something feels different today. Your eyes stay sharper. The room doesn't spin as much. Your body knows exactly where it is in space without thinking about it. That's not just strength talki

Hey. You know that feeling when you nail a handstand or an inversion, but there's still this voice in your head saying your form could go deeper? That you're leaving something on the table?
A lot of people train in Bryanston and Sandton, hit their marks at the gym, and think they've maxed out what their body can do. But acrobatics, movement, and inversion work in capoeira is built on a completely different framework. You're not just learning a skill, you're teaching your nervous system to trust itself through positions most people never explore.

You know that feeling when you're moving and suddenly your training partner shifts underneath you? No time to think, just react. That's where solo movement practice meets live interaction.
Animal Flow gets a lot right, the mobility work is solid, and the flow state is real. But it's a solo practice. Capoeira brings a partner into that equation. Your weight distribution matters. Your timing matters. You're reading another person's movement in real time and responding. It's the difference between rehearsal and play.
We run adult and teen classes Monday and Wednesday at 17:45, and Saturday mornings at 10:00. First class is free. Wrote about this here: https://www.capoeiravalente.co.za/post/animal-flow-vs-capoeira-why-adding-a-partner-changes-everything
