We’re proud to welcome Roan as our newest brand ambassador!

Roan is an angler who’s put in the time, worked hard and constantly pushed himself to improve. His passion for specimen angling and the results he’s achieved speak for themselves. We’re excited to have him representing Fish Clinic and look forward to being part of his journey!

🎣 ROAN’S STORY

It all started at Golden Harvest Dam in 2023, when two of my best mates invited me along to watch them fish. After seeing their session, I was hooked. The very next week, I bought my first rods and my specimen fishing journey began.

On 8 July 2023, I caught my first carp at 3.5 kg. Since then, I’ve spent countless hours learning, improving and chasing bigger fish at venues like Zelpy, Donaldson Dam, Homestead and Aqua Paradiso.

My recent five-week campaign at Aqua Paradiso was one to remember! I landed Peanut, the famous 17.7 kg Sumo Mirror, won the 2026 Annual Social Competition, caught the five biggest fish of the competition and broke both my Common and Mirror Carp PBs.

Looking back at where it all started, it’s crazy to see how far I’ve come. Joining Fish Clinic is another big milestone for me, and I’m excited for what lies ahead. This is only the beginning!

THE LAST BIG ’UN 🎣🔥

What a way to end off the Rietvlei Social, with Nico landing the biggest fish of the session on the final night!

This absolute Rietvlei stunner came after Nico placed his rod close to the buoy, trusting his gut that something special might be waiting there.

Just after everyone had dosed off, the reel started peeling off, and this beauty was on! 💥

And of course, it fell for the infamous Mango Litchi pop-up 🍑🔥 That bait just keeps proving itself, working wonders wherever it goes!

Always special to see fish of this calibre coming out of Rietvlei. What a way to wrap up the session! 👏🎣

Ruben went into this session with everything working against him…

The bait boat broke, he was working during the day and could only fish the nights, and the 8ft rods made fishing tight to the snags even more difficult. He had to cast his lines out and put them as close to the snags as possible.

But instead of doing what everyone else was doing, Ruben took a completely different approach.

He stacked 3 Cream ’n Corn wafters together and it absolutely got the job done. 🔥

He lost a few along the way, but he still managed to put together one hell of a session under some pretty tough circumstances.

Sometimes you don’t need to follow the crowd — you just need to find what works. 🎣

Brand ambassador .with.brad headed down to Rietvlei for a social and to test out his new Boatman bait boat 🎣

Things didn’t quite go to plan though… his battery died and the bait boat ended up drifting off 😂

But that didn’t stop him from putting a few fish on the bank.

He finished the session with 5 fish in total, with a Mango Litchi Pop-Up and Cream Corn Wafter doing the damage 🔥

Not exactly the session he planned… but definitely one worth remembering.

A YEAR IN THE MAKING 🎣

This campaign started almost a year before Roan ever cast a line.

The plan was simple — build confidence in the swim before he started fishing it.

Roan spent five weeks baiting the area, with two weeks happening before his first session. Twice a week, he introduced the fish to the same food, allowing them to feed confidently without excessive disturbance.

For the entire campaign, he stuck exclusively to Fish Clinic:

🥥 Coconut Boilies — whole, halved & crumbed
🎣 10mm High Protein Pellet
🖤 Black Gold
🥜 Nutty Smart Oil
🌶️ Chilli Smart Salts

The idea was to match the hatch, using Coconut Bottom Baits topped with Fox pink fake maize.

Fishing just 45ft / 13.7m from the bank, right against the snags, presentation and minimal disturbance were critical. Roan even dedicated the campaign purely to casting, while PVA bags delivered extra food around the hookbaits.

THEN IT STARTED 🔥

On his first session, Roan landed a fish and took the lead in the Aqua Paradiso Social Competition.

Soon after, a 17kg mirror gave him even more confidence in the campaign.

Rather than constantly changing his approach, he trusted the preparation he had put in, planning key sessions around the new and full moons.

THE FINAL SESSION

As the campaign progressed, the quality of the fish continued to build, with only one fish under 10kg landed throughout the competition.

Then came the fish he had been waiting for.

Peanut. 🥜

A stunning 17.7kg mirror and the biggest fish of his campaign.

🏆 Roan won the Aqua Paradiso Social Competition.

Five weeks of preparation. Two weeks of pre-baiting. One plan — and complete trust in the process.

Sometimes the most important part of fishing happens long before the first cast.
