In many cases, ladies that start in our Women Empowered® program often say, "Does this really work against a man?"

Yes and no. A unskilled man, the goal is to not to lose the fight and get away or subdue the bad guy. This is the mindset of our Women Empowered porgram.

Once they get through the program, most ladies start in our Gracie Combatives program which is our Coed adult beginners program. Here they get train with men if they are comfortable. They then understand that there is a real difference between defending against a skilled and unskilled opponent.

The best thing is to see in real time, ladies starting to win those critical moments against skilled men.

No martial art gives the smaller person the realistic chance to defend themselves against bigger opponents like Gracie Jiu-jitsu does.

At the start of the journey, defending and submitting a bigger opponent sees impossible until it happens.

Trust the process.

Manage the distance, manage the damage!

Only after staring our Gracie Combatives program for adult beginners, does distance management in a altercation make sense.

You want to be all the way in, or all the way out. In-between this is the danger zone. The person who controls this, controls the outcome of a street fight.

Learn simple, effective self-defence in our Gracie Combatives program.

Gracie Jiu-jitsu Fourways is about the community and helping each other at the academy.

In saying this, members of our advanced kids class, Black Belt Club are invited to be part of our Gracie Leadership Program to help guide the smallest students during the technical drilling portion of the Little Champs class.

This is not only wholesome to see on the mats but builds the confidence of all the kids. New students can see the path they are heading to and the advance kids smooth the pathway by guiding.

All it takes is commitment and time on our mats.
