Growth vs Scaling - what's the difference?
People often use these terms interchangeably in the context of business. The difference, though, is that growth needs to come before the business can scale.
Growth involves strategies that add revenue while increasing cost and adding resources at the same rate, whereas scaling involves revenue being added at a much greater rate than cost.
Both growth and scale require strategic planning. Growing your company involves improving your competitive advantage, developing your brand, building systems, and processes that remove friction to enable scale, and proving that you can manage your business successfully. If you have gotten these right, then it's time to scale.
