“As a coach, my main focus is helping people become stronger, healthier, and more confident through movement.

With a couple of years experience in coaching and my professional background, I believe that good technique and moving well form the foundation of long-term progress, performance, and injury prevention.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced athlete, my goal is to create a supportive environment where you can develop skills, build fitness, and enjoy the journey.”

Member Story ✨

“Growth rarely happens where life feels easy…”

When I first walked into the 04:30 “Early Birds” class in December 2022, I was hesitant. But that first WOD changed something in me. The adrenaline was great, but it was the community — the encouragement, the cheers, and the people who became more than just gym buddies, they became family.

Since then, the journey hasn’t stopped. Whether I’m training for the 36.6km Trans Agulhas inflatable boat race or simply showing up weekday after weekday, I’ve learned the same powerful lesson: you don’t have to be extraordinary to achieve extraordinary things. You just have to be willing to show up.

Today at almost 37, my health and mobility are better than ever. I’m a child of God, a husband to an incredible wife, and a father to my amazing 9-year-old daughter. They are my greatest motivation.

Grip & Rip is so much more than just sweat and weights — it’s about the people beside you and the courage you build one workout at a time.

If you’re standing on the edge wondering if you can do it… take that first step. You might just find strength, purpose, and a community ready to help you rise.”

What a day at Hyrox Johannesburg! 🔥🏆

Huge congratulations to every single Grip & Rip athlete who took on the big one at the Expo Centre!

From the first sled push to that final wall ball, you showed up, you fought hard, and you left everything on the floor. Whether it was your first Hyrox or you were chasing a big PB — we saw the grit, the determination, and the heart.

We’re so incredibly proud of all of you. You trained through winter, pushed through tough sessions, and represented Secunda with everything you had. That’s what Grip ‘n Rip is all about!

We’re super excited to announce that Sherilee will be joining us part-time for the month of June and full-time from July, coaching our afternoon classes!
Sherilee brings serious experience and heart to the team:

Competitive CrossFit athlete (Regionals competitor x3)
Experienced coach with many years under her belt
Passionate weightlifter since age 16
Dedicated mom who understands real life + training balance

She’s known for her energy, attention to detail, and ability to make everyone feel supported while pushing them to get better. Whether you’re a beginner or chasing big goals, you’re going to love training with her.

Meet Sindy & Tiaan — one of our favourite Grip & Rip power couples!

“Our journey has been about so much more than fitness. Life got busy and exhausting, and we stopped choosing ourselves. Almost 4 years ago we realised something had to change. The unhealthy habits and constant low energy were affecting our family.

The best decision we made was simply to start.
Working out together taught us patience, encouragement, and what it really means to support each other. It wasn’t always smooth — some days were tough and Tiaan even stopped for 3 months. But I kept going… and my consistency eventually inspired him to start again.

Together, we learned that consistency is the key. Having your best friend right beside you makes it easier to push through the hard days, and it’s made us stronger as a couple.

Choosing each other again!

Grip & Rip helped us build habits we can keep for life, and now we’re doing it together. One day at a time.”
