The Helderberg Bowling Club hosted a gala dinner on Friday, 26 June, to honour our prizewinners, reflecting on the past season's achievements in a fabulous evening. Helderberg Bowling Club.

The triumphant Helderberg Bowling Club ladies after winning the Helderberg Basin Bowls Association Nines Tournament. This consists of teams playing Pairs, Trips and Fours. The Helderberg Pairs team of Shirley Jean Oosthuizen and Aira Klopper won the Pairs with Katherine Van Wyk, Margie Palmer and Sheila Otto winning the Trips.

What an outstanding achievement, Aira Klopper reaching the Semi Finals in the Western Province Ladies Open Champion of Champions this past weekend! All of us at Helderberg Bowling Club are absolutely thrilled for you 🥉🎱👏💪

The 17th annual Biltong and Potroast tournament took place on Friday, 29 May, where competitors gathered to vie for the esteemed Green Mielie trophy. Both Boer and British teams demonstrated impressive turnout and enthusiasm, with the Boere team, led by Kommandant Paul Ferns, ultimately claiming victory. Despite their best efforts, the Potroast team, under General Keith Syme, fell short, vowing to regroup and intensify their efforts for next year's competition. Following the prize ceremony, attendees enjoyed a traditional Boer dinner consisting of braai, pap en sous, and boontjie salad, complemented by Cape Brandy pudding. Gratitude was extended to all participants, marking this year as the largest and most successful event to date.

Wishing our star WP under 25 bowlers, Gavin and Yanga, safe travels and good bowling as you travel to Bloemfontein for the Junior Nationals. Helderberg Bowling Club is so proud of you ✨🎱🏆

Day 2 of the Western Province Bowls SA Perfect Delivery Inter‑District Championships 2026 at Helderberg Bowls Club was played in sweltering heat today! ☀️🥵
With temperatures soaring, BSA pushed the second match start a little later, giving players time to cool off and relax in the shade before heading back onto the greens.
Despite the heat, the crowd enjoyed some spectacular bowls, including action from SA internationals Jason Evans and Gerry Baker playing for Johannesburg Bowls Association.
