One of our all-time RWFL Star performers, Carol Ann Aver, was nominated and awarded Runner-up as Western Province Long distance Athlete of the year 2026 in her age category. This is a very special award and a once-off medal especially to be made to a Walker. We are so proud of Carol-Ann, upholding such high standard of achievements throughout the years and being a super role model to us. Congrats Carol-Ann!

The Social side of RWFL Somerset West is alive and active. Past Friday we enjoyed a most MAGICAL Christmas in July!
Our social team are movers and shakers. As always captained by Estelle Mossie, they staged a most fantastic Social event – Santa Claus and all!! And he was still a mystery for many. ( Hey, who said its only for children!!)
The lovely warm atmosphere with magic Christmas decor, fireplace, capped with that famous glühwein…., so there was no excuse for not getting into the mood and enjoying the kuier with good old and new friendships. And what a spread of eats set up by you the members!! Thank you it was simply delicious.
Once again, a huge thank you to our Social group ‘and the elves’ for your precious time and doing so much for our branch and members. We are so fortunate to have you guys!!! See less

The kuier afterwards of course☺☺☺ It was great to see everybody who could not do the challenge, who came along and joined us for the fun.
Once again, a big big thank you to the social team who made it all happen in such a special way. You are the best!
Big congrats to all who persevered for 6 days and finished their goal distance. Well done!

Its 2 weeks to go to the Big 2/0 and the whole world was out running and walking today. What a privilege to see how active people are in our beautiful area. So did our RWFL members take to the road doing various distances from 8km to 19km which included the gruelling Spook hill, but with plenty volunteer watertable support, all conquered! Well done boys and girls. As always every body enjoyed the welcome home gazebo with refreshments and fresh tasty eats and a nice kuier, all made possible by our super social group! Thanks all, what a wonderful day☺

How nice it is to see people working hard and then achieve their goals. So did one of our role models who excelled once again during the past weekend – participating in the WPA Masters 5000m Race Walking Champs and made the podium with a golden first place in her age category! A huge congrats to Carol-Ann Aver for a super achievement. We know she has been working very hard and reaped the benefits. She also made her SA time for her age category. We are super proud of her.
