Pink, Proud and Playing It Forward 🌺

Wednesday brought the second and final round of our King of the Skirts competition, following January’s King of the Tips – and what a fitting finale it proved to be. Congratulations to Bertus Kriel, who was crowned our overall winner after two wonderfully contrasting rounds of golf.

There were smiles everywhere, although I am still not sure whether they came from the wonderful flair of pink across the course or simply from the pleasure of playing a slightly shorter golf course from the forward tees! Either way, it certainly raised a worthwhile question: perhaps playing it forward more often is not such a bad option after all.

The day also carried a message far greater than golf. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our members embraced Pink Wednesday in fine style – shirts, caps, socks and splashes of pink all helping to raise awareness and show support for those affected by breast cancer. It was colourful, good-spirited and a lovely reminder that when our club comes together, we can enjoy the game while standing proudly behind a meaningful cause.

Wear it pink. Play it proud. Support a great cause.

Congratulations Jean!

They say age is only a number, and 50 is clearly no problem at all for our touring professional, Jean Hugo, who has already won on both the regular and senior tours this year. Jean’s latest victory came at the SA Senior Open, where he came out on top against a very strong field including James Kingston, Roger Wessels and Hennie Otto, to name but a few.

Jean is off to China this week, where he will be competing on the DP World Legends Tour. All the best, Jean, from all of us at the club. We are super proud of you, and thank you for continuing to fly the Stellenbosch Golf Club flag with such distinction!

Spring Cup 🌼

A massive thank you to everyone who made this year’s Spring Cup such a memorable day. We really did enjoy a proper day of spring, and that was made possible by the generous support of our wonderful sponsors: Titleist, FootJoy, Callaway, Beyerskloof, KWV and Stella Artois. Your contribution added greatly to the atmosphere, the prizes and the overall enjoyment of the day.

Congratulations to all the prize winners, and especially to our Spring Cup champions: Stephen Lubbe, Chris Bekker, Peter Coetzee and Daniel Le Roux. They danced their way around the golf course in the Alliance Waltz format, putting together an excellent 87 points to claim the title in style.
