Vanaand kom ons na julle toe vir hulp om ons baba Nia te help om haar operasie te kan kry wat haar so baie sal help.
Nia is die dogter van Whirlvon en Subaida,Nia se pappa Whirlvon is n oud speler van ons Klub en n persoon as julle hom ken wat baie passievol is sport en sy familie.
Baba Nia het basies langs n rugby veld groot geword en nes haar pa speel albei haar Ooms Nico en Mervon ook rugby. En van julle wat die Van Rooi broers ken weet hulle is elke naweek by n rugby veld.
" Nia's tonsils are severely enlarged and constantly infected. They block her airway, making it hard for her to breathe, sleep, eat and be a child.
Her medical journey has been long and painful:
Nia was first assessed at Dr Harry Surtie Hospital in Upington and was urgently referred to the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialists at Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley for surgery.
But due to no patient transport and very long surgical waiting lists, she has missed her ENT appointments repeatedly. She has never received the specialist surgery she was referred for.
As a direct result of the long delay, Nia now presents with faltering growth and appears chronically ill. Her repeated infections have forced her to complete many courses of antibiotics, which carry serious risks like antimicrobial resistance.
In short: Our baby is not growing as she should. She is always sick. She is tired. The antibiotics are no longer a solution - she needs the operation.
The doctor's final summary states: “Expedited specialist evaluation and surgical management are clinically indicated.”This means surgery cannot wait any longer.
Why we need R30,000:
We are a family that cannot afford private ENT surgery, but we cannot wait any longer in the state system while Nia gets sicker. We are raising R30,000 to cover the full cost of a private tonsillectomy so Nia can finally breathe, sleep through the night, and start growing and thriving again."
