Hallo all Cape Gate Vaal Marathon Runners.

We had to create a new Marathon Page as the Administrator of this page and previous organizer of our event, Steve Jackson, sadly passed away last year in a work related accident.

The 2022 event will take place on the first Sunday of March, 6th March 2022 as is the case for the last 47 years.
Entries are limited to 2000 runners online entry ONLY. Covid19 rules and regulations do apply.
Please enter the race on the Peak Timing website.

The link to the new page is https://web.facebook.com/VaalMarathon1

Please give a Like and Share the link with your running friends on the new page.
Vaal Athletic Club is proud to be associated with Cape Gate (Pty) Limited for 26 years of sponsorship.
We will once again host the single biggest and best sporting event in the Vaal Triangle. Please honour us with your presence.
See you Sunday 6th of March. Thank You !!

On behalf of the Vaal Athletic Club and the Marathon committee, we wish to thank each and every runner, their family members, supporters, the refreshment stations, and people from the community for their effort and understanding that on the first Sunday of March every year, the runners take over the streets of Three Rivers and Risiville for a few hours.

We apologise for any inconvenience but a lot is given back to the local community. This is the biggest single sporting event in the whole of the Vaal Triangle and an economic boost for the local shops.

On top of that, runners donate R10 of each entry fee to both Life Line Vaal and the Catherine Robson Children home. Thank you for all those that made additional donations.
Although the number of entries was down on last year, the runners enjoyed the best running weather anyone could have asked for.

A total of 4210 runners officially completed the 42, 21 and 10km events. The official results are on the Championchip website.
Any queries regarding your time, please contact them for professional assistance. A word of appreciation to Grant, Jen, Thuli and their team from Championchip for great work.

We hope to see you all back again next year.
