π― What is Lawn Bowls?
At first glance, lawn bowls might look simpleβbut it's one of the most tactical and skillful sports you'll see at the Commonwealth Games.
The objective is to roll specially designed bowls as close as possible to a small white target called the jack. Sounds easy? Not quite.
Unlike a regular ball, a lawn bowl has a bias, meaning it naturally curves as it rolls. Players must carefully judge the line, speed, and angle of every delivery to finish closest to the jackβor strategically knock an opponent's bowl out of position.
Each round, known as an end, is a battle of precision, patience, and strategy. Players can defend, attack, protect the jack, or deliver powerful drives that completely change the outcome with a single bowl.
Lawn bowls is played in singles, pairs, triples, and fours, with every shot demanding focus, accuracy, and smart decision-making. It's often described as chess on grass, where skill and strategy matter more than power.
