Landmark Safetember Conference
Members Excel at FEM Safety Awards FEM held its annual Safetember Conference at the Capital Zimbali on Thursday, 17 September 2026. The theme, “90 Years of Advancing Health and Safety into the Future,” reflected the organisation’s milestone anniversary.
The event focused on key topics including occupational health and safety legislation, professional designations in the built environment, psychosocial risks and workplace wellbeing, medical surveillance, occupational disease claims, legal perspectives on psychological safety, and professional registration updates. Through expert presentations and a panel discussion in which Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal Executive Director Vikashnee Harbhajan participated, attendees gained valuable insights into advancing health, safety as wel as regulatory compliance within South Africa’s construction sector.
At the FEM Safety Awards that followed, several Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal member companies were acknowledged for safety excellence. We congratulate Stefanutti Stocks and WBHO on their outstanding achievements in receiving multiple awards, as well as all our member companies that were honoured on the night.
Suheiba McDonald, a Safety Officer at Stefanutti Stocks who had progressed through the ranks, received FEM’s Most Improved Mentee of the Year award.
The Association congratulates FEM on its 90th anniversary and acknowledges their significant contribution to advancing occupational health and safety in the construction sector.
