Restricting dog access to chickens is a key part of biosecurity measures.
It helps reduce disease risk and keeps the birds healthier .
:
- Reduces stress on chickens
- Prevents attacks and potential chicken loss
- Lowers disease transmission risk
- Protects eggs and chicks
- Prevents feed contamination
- Reduces parasite introduction
:
- Fleas (skin/feathers) - cause discomfort.
- Ticks (skin, often head ) - transmit diseases
- Worms (gastrointestinal tract) - cause weight loss, diarrhea
- Mites (skin/feathers) - cause irritation, feather loss
PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE☺️

These are small checks on our birds that can help us know how they are doing;
1️⃣ The beddings
If it’s wet or smells, change it immediately. Wet beddings invites disease.
2️⃣ Their droppings
Watery, greenish, brownish or bloody p**p tell something is wrong.
3️⃣ The chicks themselves
If they look dull, weak, or are just sitting quietly, pay close attention.
