TISA KALEMBA: from maid to marathon heroine

FROM her humble beginnings as a maid in Mkushi, to turning the tables through sheer willpower, Tisa Kalemba has emerged as an inspiration to the nation.

Following a triumphant 3rd place finish in the recent Absa marathon event, her journey has become a beacon of hope, and her story resonates with everyone who hears it.

During the prize-giving Kalemba's remarkable achievement was celebrated as awards galored , permanently changing her life

The event was graced by the Minister of Youth Sport and Arts, Elvis Nkandu, who recognized the significance of her journey and commended the corporate organizations that played a pivotal role in supporting Tisa along her path to success.

Speaking at the ceremony, ABSA chief executive officer Mizinga Melu praised Tisa's unyielding determination.

ABSA Bank, in particular, played a crucial role in enabling Tisa to pursue her marathon dream when she had no funds to register for the 42km race.

But the support didn't stop there.

The Zambia Air Force recognized Tisa Kalemba's fighting spirit and courage, offering her a permanent job with free accommodation.

She has also been adopted to run under the Red Arrows Athletics Club, further solidifying her place in the world of athletics.

Tisa Kalemba's hard work and dedication did not go unrewarded at the prize-giving ceremony. She received a cash prize of K40,000 along with assorted products from different corporate companies.

Tisa's story is not just about running; it's about the human spirit's ability to overcome adversity, chase dreams, and inspire others along the way.
