President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has warned that government will not tolerate electoral violence and disorder following incidents in which individuals allegedly attempted to block the lawful filing of nominations.
In a statement issued today, President HICHILEMA said scenes circulating on social and other media showing attempts to disrupt the nomination process are unacceptable, undemocratic, and a breach of the rule of law.

President HICHILEMA said Zambia is governed by laws, not intimidation, violence, or mob action.

Lungu’s remains held in South African state facility as police probe delays repatriation!
The body of former President Edgar Lungu is still lying in a South African state facility pending investigations by the South African Police Service (SAPS) into the cause of his death.
The Zambian government has obtained a court order to have Mr. Lungu’s remains repatriated to Zambia for a state funeral, following a protracted legal battle between the government and the Lungu family.
However, according to documents seen by Diamond News, Two Mountains Burial Services (PTY) Limited, which was initially keeping the body before the court order for its transfer, says it has been advised by the Zambian government’s attorney that the remains will not be immediately repatriated.
This is to allow SAPS to continue with investigations, with the remains now moved to a state facility.
Two Mountains Burial Services has also stated that it is not prepared to accept possession of the late President’s remains.
The company has further urged the Lungu family to ensure that they do not request the return of the remains to their custody.
Meanwhile, the Lungu family has obtained an order from the South African Supreme Court of Appeal halting the High Court order that allowed the transfer of Mr. Lungu’s body to the Zambian government for a state funeral.
Mr. Lungu died on June 5, 2025, in South Africa. Since his death, his body has not been buried due to an ongoing impasse between his family and the Zambian government.

LATEST: The Zambian government has executed the August 2025 Gauteng High Court in Pretoria’s judgment that entitles the government to repatriate the remains of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu for the purposes of a State funeral and burial.
This, after the Lungu family’s appeal bid in the Supreme Court of Appeal lapsed after the family failed to meet the deadlines it set together with the Zambian government on an expedited timeline approved by the appellate court.
Former President Lungu passed away in South Africa on the 5th of June 2025, however, a court battle and subsequent appeal process over his remains has halted his burial.
This ex*****on process kicked off by the Zambian government spells the return of Lungu’s remains to his homeland of Zambia.
It is, however, unclear when that repatriation process will begin amid investigations.

Solwezi man WINS K1.3+ Million With Catlebet!!!
From Kimale-Solwezi to Millionaire Status! A 30-year-old man from Solwezi has won one of the largest football accumulator payouts in Zambia. From a bold K10,000 stake, built entirely from previous winnings, Jackson Chakota won a massive K1,324,853.78 on Castlebet on Sunday 19th April 2026, becoming the latest millionaire in town.
“Ndeumfwa ukupupuka” – (“I feel like flying”) – Jackson said, still reeling from the shock of his new reality.

How did he do it?
Jackson’s journey to a million did not happen overnight. He first joined Castlebet in 2021 after a friend introduced him. At the beginning of the current football season, he kept things modest with discipline, placing bets as small as K100 then he rolled over his winnings. Building momentum, he turned K100 into K7,000. Then K7,000 became K20,000 over the months. By Sunday, he was full of confidence and courage, placing a bold K10,000 bet entirely funded from his previous winnings.
While most football fans were busy arguing about Arsenal losing the grip on the EPL trophy, Jackson had a different plan. Backing attacking football, he stacked his ticket with 11 selections of “Over 1.5” and “Over 2.5” goal markets, trusting big sides like Manchester City, Arsenal, PSG, and Bayern Munich to deliver.
It was a bold strategy. Accumulators are famously high-risk, but big payout, and as the matches rolled in, the pressure only increased for Jackson. So he did something few punters do. “I switched off my data and went to sleep” – Jackson later stated. “I didn’t want to be tempted by a Cash Out offer. I usually take it when the pressure mounts.”
Instead of watching live scores, he went to sleep, leaving his fortune to fate. The following morning, Jackson logged into his account and was greeted by a seven-figure balance on his betting account.
What Comes Next?
Wins like this don’t just inspire bets, they change lives. Despite his massive windfall, Jackson remains grounded, encouraging others to always bet responsibly. He also urged fellow sports lovers to join Castlebet, noting that as a truly Zambian company, they stand out because winners are paid immediately no matter how big the win is. Castlebet has since confirmed the full payout, reinforcing its reputation for fast and reliable winnings.
