We marked our first home league outing of the transition season in emphatic fashion, thrashing Locus 5-0 at Nampundwe Stadium yesterday.
The opening stages were tightly contested, but the boys eventually broke the deadlock when Wezzy Kumwenda opened his account in Nampundwe colours, finishing at the near post after receiving the ball from Rodgers Mulenga.
We took the slender advantage into the break before coming out firing after the restart. Just three minutes into the second half, Kumwenda won a penalty after being brought down by the Locus goalkeeper. Jacob Banda stepped up and calmly converted to make it 2-0 in the 48th minute.
Banda was on target again in the 55th minute, completing his brace after finishing off a loose ball following a Kumwenda effort to put us firmly in control.
In the 60th minute, the technical bench made a quadruple substitution, bringing on Morgan Kaula, Mike Simwinga, Elijah Zulu and Samuel Chiposa for Banda, Kumwenda, Peter Mwangani and David Sakala.
Three minutes later, the changes paid immediate dividends. Elijah Zulu produced a well-weighted through ball for Mike Simwinga, who kept his composure to beat the Locus goalkeeper and make it 4-0.
We completed the rout in stoppage time when youngster Morgan Kaula finished from close range to seal a convincing 5-0 victory.
A dominant home performance, five goals and three valuable points.
Now, the team turns the attention to the next challenge as we travel to face Kafue Celtic away this weekend.
