When the African club football powerhouses shocked football fans worldwide with this proudly Zambian invention which totally deviates from the more traditional pre-match photo arrangement, little did we know that society would soon be hard-hit by a coronavirus crisis.

Exactly one year later on September 2, 2020, caught up in the midst of this COVID crisis, the Colombian football team La Equidad has emulated Zesco United's unique innovation.

Whether by design or pure coincidence fueled by the unprecedented pandemic is another matter altogether but truth be told, societal hiatuses brought about by global disasters often turn out revolutionary.

We always knew that it would take something drastic for certain aspects of Zambian football — especially at club level — to go global.
