COPPER QUEENS FACE HARAMBEE STARLETS IN FOUR NATIONS ASSIGNMENT

The Four Nations Tournament kicks off today in Ndola with the Copper Queens facing the Harambee Starlets of Kenya in a 15h00 kickoff while Zimbabwe will take on Lesotho in a lunch time tussle at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Coach Nora Häuptle and her technical bench are using the Four Nations Tournament as a dress rehearsal for the Women Africa Cup of Nations which takes place next month.

Fans have an opportunity to watch their favourite stars in close quarters as all the top performing stars are available for this FIFA Window tournament.

Häuptle is spoilt for choice given the availability of 2024 CAF Women Footballer of the Year Barbra Banda and her partner in crime Rachael Kundananji who have the potential to unlock any defence in the world.

The supporting cast has equally seasoned campaigners like Grace Chanda, Prisca Chilufya, Kabanghe Mupopo, Ireene Lungu, Rachael Nachula and Rhodah Chileshe.

Häuptle has not been shy to place her faith in promising youngsters like Mercy Chipasula, Blessings Maluba, Chishala Mfunte, Saliya Mwanza, Margaret Gondwe and Natasha Nanyangwe among others.

The defence pillars in Lushomo Mweemba, Martha Tembo and Margaret Belemu are also part of the mix.

However, Zambia will be facing a Kenya side high on confidence having participated in the FIFA Series tournament in their backyard in April and already punched their WAFCON ticket.

Coach Beldine Odemba and captain Mwanalima Adam have sent warning signals to their hosts ahead of this fixture that they will be in no mood to dish out favours.

Zambia is hoping to fine tune for the WAFCON where they are in Group C alongside defending champions Nigeria, Malawi and Egypt.

Today’s games will be live on ZNBC TV3 on Top Star with the first game kicking off at 12h30 while the second fixture takes off at 15h30.

Tickets are being sold on the FAZ Tech Pay online platform are pegged at K50 (North, South and West), K150 (West) and K300 (VIP).
