Overselling yourself just to close a sale can be tempting.
You don't need to say things that are not true just to get a client. You are already good at what you do. When you are honest about what you can deliver, people will trust you more. Good clients want someone who is reliable and truthful.
Be yourself and speak honestly.
The right clients will still choose you.

What Public Liability Taught Me About Running a Startup

When you first start a business, you would think the biggest risks will be funding, growth, or product market fit. But a recent story running on BBC News (image above) is a stark reminder of another risk you don’t hear much about Public Liability, and with it, our duty of care to every customer, visitor, and partner.
One small slip, one accident on-site, and suddenly your focus shifts from building your dream to handling legal and financial issues. That experience taught me some critical lessons:

1. Assess the risks – understand where and how your customers interact with our business.
2. Prioritize safety – maintain clean, hazard-free spaces and clear signage.
3. Train your team – everyone should know how to protect customers and respond to incidents.
4. Work with trusted partners – only contractors with proper insurance and safety records.
5. Protect yourself with insurance – public liability coverage isn’t optional; it’s essential.
Running a startup isn’t just about building a product or service; it’s about protecting your customers and your business.
Taking safety seriously shows your customers and team that you care and keeps your vision alive.
