HALF TIME UPDATE.

Canada 2-0 Zambia.

Canada take a two-goal lead into the break after a clinical first half performance in this FIFA Series encounter.

Zambia showed early defensive discipline, with Blessings Maluba producing a key intervention to deny a dangerous Nichelle cross inside the box.

Canada continued to press, with Alidou Yasmine coming close but heading over from another Nichelle delivery.

The breakthrough came in the 41st minute when Prince Nichelle tapped in from close range after sustained pressure.

Just minutes later, Nichelle struck again, slotting home through a crowded Zambian box to double Canada’s advantage.
Zambia will look to regroup and respond in the second half.

MUKURU 4-NATIONS TOURNAMENT.

Zambia are through to the final!

The Chipolopolo battled to a 0-0 draw against Malawi in a tense semi-final clash, where chances were few and margins even tighter.

A second-half strike by Eliya Mandanji looked to have given Zambia the breakthrough, but it was ruled out for offsidekeeping the contest finely balanced until the final whistle.

With nothing to separate the two sides in regulation time, the match was decided by penalties. Zambia held their nerve in a gripping shootout, emerging 9-8 winners to seal their place in the final.

They now await the winner between Botswana and Zimbabwe ahead of Tuesday’s decisive showdown.

MWEEMBA ENDS TEN-YEAR SALARY INCREMENT DROUGHT AT FAZ.

March 11, 2026 Lusaka.

Employees at the Football Association of Zambia on Wednesday held a thanksgiving meeting to appreciate the improvement in their conditions of service after nearly ten years without a salary increment.

The adjustment followed a resolution by the FAZ Executive Committee to revise secretariat staff salaries upwards after FAZ President Keith Mweemba expressed concern about the low wages, with some workers previously earning as little as K1,500. Inside sources indicate that some employees have received increments of up to 300 percent in their take-home packages.

Speaking on behalf of staff, Choolwe Moonga thanked the President and the executive committee for prioritising the welfare of employees who had remained dedicated to supporting football administration despite the long wait.

Other workers, including Bernadette Chola and Maybin Sitali, said the decision had restored morale and strengthened motivation among staff who work behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of the association. The employees later presented Mweemba with an autographed and framed white Kopa jersey as a token of appreciation.

In response, Mweemba said the salary increment was meant to motivate workers and improve productivity, noting that it fulfilled one of the promises he made during his campaign.

He urged employees to repay the gesture through dedication and professionalism, adding that strong teamwork within the association would help drive better performances for Zambia’s national teams and support the broader goal of qualifying for major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup.

FC MUZA Seal Final ABSA Cup Spot.

FC MUZA have officially become the final team from the Zambia Super League to qualify for this year’s ABSA Cup.

The Mazabuka-based side secured qualification following a defeat suffered by defending champions ZESCO United in their rescheduled league fixture played today.

Earlier on Monday, when the Zambia Premier League (ZPL) conducted the ABSA Cup draws, it was clarified that ZESCO United’s points tally had been accumulated from 16 of the 17 matches of the first half of the season. This meant the Ndola giants still had an outstanding Week Two fixture to complete before their eligibility could be fully confirmed.

The match was subsequently played today, but ZESCO United suffered a defeat, a result that opened the door for FC MUZA to secure the final qualifying slot.

The development sees FC MUZA, who currently sit ninth on the league table, complete the list of teams that will compete in the 2026 ABSA Cup tournament.

MTN SUPER LEAGUE WEEK 22 FIXTURE POSTPONED.

The Week 22 MTN Super League fixture between Konkola Blades Football Club and Nkwazi Football Club has been postponed.

The decision has been necessitated by extensive damage to the main access road leading to Chililabombwe, which has rendered the route impassable and made travel to the venue impossible.

The Zambian Premier League has since confirmed that the safety of players, match officials, supporters and all stakeholders remains paramount.

A new date for the fixture will be communicated in due course.
