The centre is primarily of social development through sport for onward nurturing to elite sport. Its main objective is to give an opportunity to socially and economically disadvantaged children to participate in a sport of their choice

Our very own Olympafrica football team returned proudly from Zimbabwe after participating in the Reginal Futbolnet Tournament! We received the bronze medal for the category "Under 13" and the gold medal for "Under 15". We congratulate the boys and girls, and would like to thank parents, schools, and sponsors for their support!

Due to the great generosity of Fighter Sport, Bodø bokseklubb, Vera Schnabel , and Jan Myhre, we have finally started up a Boxing program at Olympafrica. So far it has been very well received and we are looking forward to developing new champions for Zambia! Even the ladies from the Literacy Class wanted to join in :)

The finals of the futbolnet tournament took place at the Olympafrica Centre in February. Teaching Values of Teamwork, Effort, responsibility, Commitment, Respect and Tolerance using soccer as a tool. Over 2 500 children took part in the event. The Centre is not just about sport but teaching values as well.

QBR LAUNCHED IN LUSAKA – ZAMBIA
The QUEEN’S BATON RELAY has been launched by the His Excellence Vice President of the Republic of Zambia Dr. Guy SCOTT, His Honour, the British High Commissioner to Zambia, and other dignitaries from different entities.
The baton contains the Queen's hand-written message to the Commonwealth member nations and is visiting all 70 competing nations and territories over the next 288 days.
The QBR has travelled in 31 countries so far with Zambia being on number 32nd
“The relay unites two billion citizens of the Commonwealth in a celebration of sport, diversity and peace," he said.
"It will also bring the 70 nations and territories of the Commonwealth together.
"Every time the baton is passed it will cement the Commonwealth friendship and reinforce the ways in which we are connected."
And, the Baton touched the Olympic Youth Development Centre at 2pm with over 200 participating pupils and athletes witnessing the special event.
