BUPE KAONGA: KICKING DOWN THE WALLS OF ILLITERACY, ONE GOAL AT A TIME

On the Progress Sport Club badge, Bupe Kaonga is emerging as a prolific young striker—fearless in attack and purposeful in ambition.

But beyond the football pitch, her greatest battle is fought beneath the canopy of Linda Community School, where she confronts illiteracy with the same determination she brings to the game.

For Bupe, football is more than a sport; it is a pathway to education, confidence and a better future. With every lesson learned and every goal scored, she is proving that a young girl can chase the ball, pursue knowledge and challenge the boundaries society places before her.

At Progress Sport Club, the philosophy is simple: develop the player, educate the mind and transform the future.

EDUCATION AND FOOTBALL: THE PROGRESS SPORT CLUB BLUEPRINT.

Progress Sport Club is laying a fundamental foundation where education and football walk hand in hand—because talent may open the door, but education helps build the road beyond it.

From the dusty football grounds of Chilanga District to the grand stage of national colours, Luka Mainza and Joseph Shankandi are living evidence that grassroots football, when intertwined with education, can become a powerful pathway to opportunity.

Their journey is more than football. It is a story of nurturing potential, keeping young people connected to school, sharpening discipline, and creating space for dreams to grow.

Today, seeing the two boys don the national team colours is a moment of immense pride for Progress Sport Club. It is also a reminder that greatness does not always begin under stadium lights. Sometimes, it begins on dusty community grounds, with a football, a school bag, a determined coach, and a dream that refuses to die.

From Chilanga’s dusty grounds to the national stage—the journey continues.

Progress Sport Club believes in developing the whole person: the student, the footballer, and the future citizen.

EDUCATION BUILDS THE MIND.
FOOTBALL BUILDS THE CHARACTER.
TOGETHER, THEY BUILD FUTURES.
