Progress Sport Club Reunion Rekindles Heritage, Inspires Future Generation.

Progress Sport Club extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone whose unwavering support and participation made the recent friendly reunion match a resounding success. The event was more than a football spectacle—it was a celebration of heritage, unity, mentorship, and community transformation.

Special appreciation goes to former players, current players, parents, loyal supporters, and all stakeholders who contributed to the memorable occasion. We are particularly grateful to Moses Pedro Mwanza for professionally live-streaming the match, ensuring that the excitement reached audiences beyond the touchline, and to Tontela Nankamba for generously providing refreshments and invaluable logistical support to both teams.

The reunion was a timely and historic gathering that beautifully rewrote the narrative of the club's rich legacy. It reunited former players who were present during the infancy and genesis of the project, reconnecting generations through a shared passion for football and community development.

The presence of trailblazing pioneers such as Bertha, now serving as a Zambia Police Officer through the opportunities football created for her, alongside Tionge "Didi", Christerbel "Tiger", and Doreen, who proudly watched from the stands, served as a powerful source of inspiration. As the club's first ambassadors, their journeys stand as living testimony to the transformative power of sport and continue to motivate the young girls currently wearing the Progress Sport Club badge.

On a vibrant Sunday afternoon, football enthusiasts streamed into the venue from Mt Makulu, Malupiri, Linda, and Freedom, creating an electric atmosphere. The crowd was treated to a dazzling display of football artistry, with moments of brilliance, creativity, and technical excellence vividly showcased throughout the encounter.

The former players proudly represented various clubs where their football journeys have flourished, including Zanaco Football Club Ladies, Kansanshi Queens, ZISD FC, Nkwazi Queens Football Club, Aguila Stars Women FC, ZedPro Sports Foundation, and Police Dove Queens FC. Their experience, composure, and quality illuminated the field, reminding spectators of the depth of talent nurtured by Progress Sport Club over the years.

In a thrilling contest, the former players emerged victorious with a 4–2 scoreline, much to the delight of the fans who enthusiastically cheered every passage of play.

Beyond the goals and entertainment, the event served a greater purpose. It provided a platform to promote the integration of football and education while raising awareness on critical social issues affecting young people, including teenage pregnancy, early marriages, drug and substance abuse, alcohol abuse, gender-based violence (GBV), HIV and AIDS, and Life Skills Education.

The match was officiated with remarkable professionalism and elegance by Daniel Yande Imponene of Mt Makulu, whose calm stewardship ensured fair play throughout. He was ably assisted by Chilanga's promising young assistant referees, John Chibende and Miracle Chisala from Linda, whose performance reflected the bright future of football officiating.

As the final whistle echoed across the venue, it became evident that the reunion had achieved far more than determining a winner. It rekindled friendships, celebrated a proud heritage, inspired the next generation, strengthened community bonds, and reaffirmed the enduring mission of Progress Sport Club: using football as a vehicle for education, empowerment, and positive social change.

Indeed, the reunion was not merely a game—it was a living legacy in motion.
