Defending champion Edgar Kazembe retained his 2026 Zambia Closed Tennis Championship title in Ndola after beating Jordan Mwale 6-3, 7-6 (6).

Kazembe reached the final by coming back from a set down to defeat Dickson Phiri 5-7, 6-3, 7-5. Mwale set up the title clash with Zambia’s top seed by edging his brother Owen Mwale 5-7, 7-5, 6-4.

In the women’s final, Isabel Chisongo defeated her sister Christabel Chisongo 2-6, 7-5, 6-0 to claim the title. She recovered from a set down to seal victory in Ndola.

Isabel reached the final by beating Natasha Chewe 6-4, 6-2. Christabel advanced by defeating Mirriam Zulu 6-4, 6-3.

The Chisongo twins were beaten in the final of the World Tennis J30 World Tour Junior Tennis Tournament doubles in straight sets.

Isabel and Christabel Chisongo lost 6-2, 6-3 to Namibia’s Joanivia Bezuidenhout and Zimbabwe’s Rutendo Tom.

The pair showed steady progress across the two-week event. They exited in the semi-finals during week one, then pushed further in week two to reach the championship match.

The tournament ended on Saturday after two weeks of high intensity and strong performances. Several Zambian players will look to build on the experience and Word Tennis ranking points gained during the competition.

The Chisongo twins are one win away from lifting the doubles title at the second week of the ITF J30 World Tour Junior Tennis Tournament.

Isabel and Christabel Chisongo staged a remarkable comeback from a set down to beat Zimbabwe’s Majeye and South Africa’s Masemola 1-6, 6-4, [10-6] in the semi-finals on Friday.

The Zambian pair will face South Africa’s Joanivia Bezuidenhout and Zimbabwe’s Rutendo Tom in Saturday’s final. Bezuidenhout and Tom reached the showpiece after defeating India’s Mariya Patel and Swasti Singh in the other semi-final.

The ITF J30 World Tour Junior Tennis Tournament finals will be played on Saturday, 27 June 2026.

South Africa dominated the boys' quarter-finals at the ITF J30 Lusaka on Thursday, booking three of the four semi-final spots.

‎Top of the results, Tshepang Maisela led the charge with a clinical 6-3 6-1 victory over Zimbabwe’s Divine Takura Kaliofasi. Maisela never faced a break point in the second set as he advanced in straight sets.

‎William Harding joined him in the last four after Portugal’s Luka Braun retired trailing 6-3 5-2 due to illness. Harding had taken control early, breaking Braun twice in the opening set.

‎Siyabonga Jaca made it three South Africans through, dispatching Japan’s Reita Yamanaka 6-3 6-2. Jaca’s serve proved decisive against an in-form Reita.

‎The only non-South African to progress was Zimbabwe’s Mamanaka Whata, who produced the most one-sided result of the day. Whata overwhelmed Kei Badenhorst 6-3 6-0, losing just three points on serve in the second set.

‎The semi-finals will now see an all-South African clash between Maisela and Jaca, while Harding faces Whata for a place in Saturday's final.

Zambia failed to reach the quarter-finals despite securing three singles victories on the final day of the round-robin stage at the ITF J30 World Tour Junior Tennis Tournament.

Christabel Chisongo, Isabel Chisongo and Mukangwa Siame recorded the hosts’ only wins of the day.

Isabel Chisongo eased past India’s Naysa Sharma 6-0, 6-0. Her sister, Christabel, then won an all-Zambian tie, defeating Kayla Muimo 6-1, 6-4. Mukangwa Siame completed the clean sweep for Zambia with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over China’s Junya Wang.

The Zambian juniors now shift focus to the doubles competition.
