The National Cholera centre at Lusaka's Heroes Stadium has been closed.
This follows the reduction in the number of the Cholera cases.
The Ministry of Health is tomorrow expected to completely move out, and the stadium handed back to the Ministry of Sports.
Health Minister, SYLVIA MASEBO announced today, stating that all the donated items, which were made at the stadium, will be transferred to the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency -ZAMMSA- for safe storage.
Ms MASEBO said ZAMMSA will then distribute the Cholera preventive items and other donated items to the districts affected by the pandemic.
She was speaking when she received a donated of assorted items including liquid soaps, blankets among others worth over 1-hundred thousand kwacha from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
She has however added that the Ministry of Health has set up a Permanent ward for Cholera treatment and care at Levy Mwanawasa Medical Hospital where all new cases will be treated.
Ms MASEBO has however warned that Cholera has not been completely eradicated but is under control.
Meanwhile, Ms MASEBO has disclosed in the last 24 hours the country has recorded 39 new Cholera cases of Cholera with Copperbelt being the highest with 23 cases.
And, AHF Country Programmes Director, MARTIN MATABISHI said that the organisation has so far made donations to 34 health facilities were they have their centers.
Meanwhile, ZAMMSA Director General, VICTOR NYASULU said the organisation has enough storage to keep the items which will soon be handed over to various districts.
