NKANA FC AND MUZ STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP WITH K200,000 SUPPORT PACKAGE
Nkana Football Club and the Mineworkers Union of Zambia (MUZ) have strengthened their partnership following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will provide financial and nutritional support to Kalampa over the next 18 months.
Under the agreement, MUZ will provide financial support of close to K200,000, equivalent to approximately K11,000 per month, from September 2026 to December 2027.
MUZ will also provide 20 trays of eggs every month through its MUZ Eggs production line to supplement the nutritional needs of the Nkana FC squad, particularly during training camps and match preparations.
Speaking during the MoU signing ceremony at Katilungu House in Kitwe, Nkana FC chief executive officer Mwansa Kapyanga welcomed the partnership, saying the support will help the Club strengthen its operations and improve the welfare of its players.
βThis partnership means a lot to Nkana FC, which currently needs a lot of support. It will help us build a stronger club both on and off the pitch,β Kapyanga said.
βThe support from MUZ, including the nutritional component, will contribute to the welfare of our players, while creating opportunities for both institutions to leverage their platforms and reach.β
Kapyanga also commended miners across Zambia for their contribution to the mining sector and their continued support for Nkana FC.
MUZ president Joseph Chewe said the partnership demonstrates the Union's commitment to supporting institutions that are closely connected to mining communities.

Kennedy Musonda says he wants to win the Super League with Zesco United and claim the Golden Boot.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Zed, Musonda said he hopes to help Zesco United win the league title and return to playing in CAF competitions, where he believes the club belongs.

2026 IRHβMOPANI CHALLENGE CUP SET FOR SEPTEMBER
Mopani Copper Mines PLC has announced new dates for the 2026 IRHβMopani Challenge Cup, with the pre-season tournament now scheduled for Saturday, 5 September and Saturday, 12 September 2026.
The annual competition brings together teams from Mopani-sponsored Nkana and Mufulira Wanderers, featuring the men's Super League sides, Young Nkana and Young Mufulira Wanderers, as well as Nkana Girls and Mufulira Wanderers Queens.
The first-leg fixtures will be played at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira on Saturday, 5 September, with the return fixtures scheduled for Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on Saturday, 12 September.
The Challenge Cup forms part of preparations for the new season, while proceeds from the matches will be channelled towards charitable organisations in Kitwe and Mufulira.
Mopani Copper Mines chief executive officer Charles Sakanya has challenged both clubs to use the tournament to adequately prepare for the new campaign and field their strongest teams.
βAs the Challenge Cup is part of pre-season preparations, I urge both clubs to field their strongest teams to test their readiness to compete for the Super League honours and continental qualification in the new season,β Sakanya said.
βThrough this event, we raise funds for charitable causes. All proceeds will be directed towards selected organisations and individuals working tirelessly to uplift vulnerable members of our communities.β
The tournament will provide both clubs with an opportunity to assess their readiness ahead of the new Super League season, while also raising funds for charitable causes in the two communities.

Solwezi, Zambia β 18 August 2026: Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Ugandan forward Joseph Ssemujju on a 17-month contract running from August 2026 to December 2027.
Ssemujju joins the Fearless Mabanga Boys as a free agent after most recently featuring for Uganda Premier League side URA FC. The forward, who primarily operates as a striker, adds further attacking options to the squad.
The signing forms part of the Clubβs preparations for the 2026 Transitional League, which kicks off on 3 October 2026, as the Club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new campaign.
Club General Secretary Mweshi Mupeta welcomed the new signing, saying Ssemujjuβs addition is part of the Clubβs continued efforts to build a competitive squad ahead of the Transitional League.
βWe are pleased to welcome Joseph to Kansanshi Dynamos. We believe his qualities will add value to the team as we prepare for the Transitional League. We look forward to seeing him contribute to the Clubβs objectives and settle well into the team,β said Mupeta.
Speaking after completing his move, Ssemujju expressed his excitement at joining Kansanshi Dynamos and his eagerness to contribute to the team.

2026 IRH-MOPANI CHALLENGE CUP POSTPONED
The 2026 IRH-Mopani Challenge Cup has been postponed from its previously scheduled dates of 22 and 29 August 2026.
The decision follows consultations with key stakeholders and is aimed at allowing sufficient time for the completion of the necessary organisational and logistical arrangements for the successful staging of the two-legged competition.
Mopani Copper Mines PLC public relations manager Nebert Mulenga said the revised dates will be communicated in due course, with all other tournament arrangements remaining unchanged.
βThe revised dates for the two-legged competition will be announced in due course,β Mulenga said.
βAll other tournament arrangements, including the participating teams, venues, prize money and charitable component, remain unchanged.β
The tournament will continue to feature Nkana FC and Mufulira Wanderers FC, with the charitable component remaining a key part of the competition.
The club appreciates Mopani Copper Mines PLC for its continued support and commitment to the IRH-Mopani Challenge Cup and looks forward to the rescheduled fixtures.
