📌 DRIVING RANGE – TEMPORARY CLOSURE 🚫📌

Dear Members,

Throughout the month of October, we will be temporarily closing the driving range in the evenings. ❌

This decision has been made in response to an increasingly high number of missing range balls, with the level of losses over recent months becoming unsustainable.

We appreciate that keeping the range open in the evening gives our members more flexibility to practice and this is something we would like to maintain. However, since the introduction of the extended evening operating hours, we have seen a significant increase in the number of range balls going missing.

For now, this will be a one-month trial. At the end of October, we will review the situation and assess whether the loss does in fact come from the evening sessions.

We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work to protect and maintain the range for all our members.

Dear Members,

This is a follow-up to our previous message regarding the seeding of the green fringes, as we realise it was not clearly communicated that the course would be closed during these works. ⛏⛳

You may have noticed that the course has been closed on Monday (21st) and Tuesday (22nd September). To clarify:

𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲: The course will remain fully closed while the seeding works are carried out.
𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲: The course may reopen in the late morning, depending on the progress made with the seeding on Monday. We will communicate this as soon as we can.

𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: As the course is closed, Reception will also be closed on Monday but calls and emails will be transferred to the Homeowner side.

We wanted to send this follow-up to ensure that all members are fully aware of the arrangements and can plan accordingly.

📌 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 🌱📌

We have now reached the final phase of the sanding works around our greens, with the sand given its final shape and compacted in preparation for *seeding on Monday*.

⚠️ 𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞. Once seeded, the new grass will take approximately TWO weeks to establish. Any foot traffic on these areas can damage or kill the new seeds and significantly prolong the recovery process, which will ultimately be frustrating for everyone.

To help protect the seeded areas, every green will be surrounded by barriers with clearly designated entry and exit points.

If your ball lands on the sanded fringe, please do not step onto the sand to retrieve it. A scoop will be provided at each hole so that you can retrieve your ball safely without damaging the area.

⛳ 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞
We have kept the drop rule as simple and as generous as possible:

- If your ball comes to rest on the sanded fringe, you may drop it on the green at the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole.
- Depending on where your ball has landed, the nearest point of relief may mean dropping to the left or right rather than directly in front of you.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation over the next few weeks. Keeping off the seeded areas is absolutely essential to getting the fringes back into playing condition as quickly as possible. 🙏

🌱 Course Enhancement Update 🌱

We’re pleased to share another update on the progress of our ongoing course enhancements.

The fairways are beginning to recover very well and are playing better and better. We are already seeing more bounce and roll on these surfaces, though this naturally varies with how recently an area has been watered and how firm the ground is.

The tee boxes on Holes 8, 11 and 13 have also made a remarkably quick recovery. We are already able to play from some of the newly worked tees, with the remaining tee boxes expected to come back into play shortly.

Finally, we are beginning to dig around selected greens to install the necessary irrigation pipes. Once this work is completed, we will shortly begin re-seeding the fringes.

Overall, the efficiency and dedication of our Course Management Team has been highly commendable and we are very encouraged by the speed at which the course is recovering. ⛳

A hat-trick of historic proportions! 🙌🏆 Massive congratulations to 17-year-old Miriam Masiya for dominating the Zimbabwe Ladies' Golf Union - ZLGU Strokeplay Championship right here at Borrowdale Brooke. Becoming the first player in recent memory to finish under par (-4) with a dominant 29-shot victory, Miriam is a true superstar in the making.

🏝️💪 More sand, more distance: When distance is required from a fairway or long greenside bunker, use less loft, take a slightly flatter swing plane, and sweep the ball right off the top of the sand.
