We're releasing them in sets over the next few days so each moment gets the attention it earned: project presentations, the estate walk, the guard of honour, the ceremony, and every diploma.

On Tuesday evening, thirty-six people who had been on the estate for barely two days stood up and introduced themselves to the staff of Falcon College.

They spoke honestly and they spoke well. Some of them had arrived on Monday not knowing a single person in the room.

That isn't a party trick, and it isn't an accident of scheduling. Standing in front of a room of adults and saying who you are - on day two, before there's been time to build a version of yourself for the occasion - is the Social acumen, and it happens early because that's when it counts.

Tuesday was the first full training session with the full intake. Thirty-six on the ground. All thirty-six finished it. 🔧

Yesterday they spread across the estate in lessons - GPS work with one group, journaling with another. Navigation and reflection on the same day.

Both of them are ways of knowing where you are.

Mixed Core 2026 did not get an easy first morning. They were up early for the fitness test - no build-up, no easing in. 🏃

It isn't a ranking and it isn't a filter. It's a baseline: where each of them is starting from, on paper, so there's something honest to measure against later. Some found it harder than they expected. That's exactly why it happens on day two and not in week six.

The rest of the week is the unglamorous part - learning the estate, learning each other's names, working out how thirty-six people share a space.

Then four and a half months of the real work. August to December.

They're arriving now.

Mixed Core 2026 is on the estate. Forms being filled in. Bags coming out of vehicles. Names being learned - badly, for the moment. A few parents still standing by the cars, having the goodbye that always takes longer than anyone planned for.

That's how it actually starts. Not with a ceremony. With admin, and a handshake, and someone you've never met asking where you're from.

By tonight they'll have unpacked. By the end of the week the names will have stuck. From there it's four and a half months, August to December, through Technical, Physical, Natural, Social, Business and Media.

Mixed Core 2026 starts Monday. 📍

Right now, bags are being packed. Boots going in on top. Somewhere, a mother is asking whether one duffel is really going to be enough.

This weekend, our Questors say their goodbyes to family, to friends, to the routine they've had since they were five years old. Then they travel to the Matopos.

Monday: they arrive on the estate, meet the cohort they'll spend the next four and a half months with, and begin. Technical. Physical. Natural. Social. Business. Media. August to December.

To every parent putting their kid in the car this weekend: thank you for trusting us with them. We don't take that lightly. ✓

Results are out today.

For some families, it's celebration. For others, quiet worry. And for a lot of parents, it's the strange in-between - the marks are fine, but the question underneath hasn't gone away: is my child actually ready?

We've watched enough school-leavers go straight into university to know the answer isn't in the transcript. A pass mark doesn't build resilience. An acceptance letter doesn't teach an eighteen-year-old how to manage his time when no one is watching, hold his ground in a hard conversation, or lead a small team through something that matters.

Some of them are ready for university now. Many are not. That isn't a failure - it's a gap that a year of the right work can close.

Graduation weekend is here. 📍

Seven months of work. A certified syllabus. Skills built on the estate in the Matopos. This Saturday, a cohort of Questors closes out their programme and steps forward with something real to show for it.

Family and friends are already arriving from across the country and beyond. The Questors are spending their final days on the 850-hectare estate getting CVs in order and wrapping up admin.

This is what a Quest graduation looks like: not a ceremony for its own sake, but a marker on a timeline of competence earned.
