Been a bit quiet on here recently ๐Ÿซข but a lot has been happening so time for a quick update ๐ŸŒ€
โ€ผ๏ธAt the end of July I will be relocating to LONDON ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งโ€ผ๏ธ

This move has been a long time coming since I studied my Masters in Leeds in 2019. I was lucky enough to come home to Zim before C0vid hit and Nicola Jane Pilates was born ๐Ÿค—

But the time has come to try something new ๐Ÿ’ซ I have finished teaching all my studio classes here in Harare and very sadly closed my studio, which was a really tough pill to swallow after having most of my clients for 4 years ๐Ÿ˜ข

My page may be a bit quiet over the next few weeks as we pack up to leave but I will keep you all up to date with our move and new adventure ๐Ÿ˜

Working through some early core rehab exercises using the ๐Ÿ”ต
โ€ข
These exercises are safe for recovery from both natural and caesarean delivery depending on your body and focuses on the for and ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Iโ€™ve kept the sound on to hear the breath for each movement which is crucial to managing - using the exhale to connect the deep core and wrap the abdominals to support the movement and the inhalation to reset ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ the video is sped up 5x so take all of these suuuper slow and focus on allowing the breath to lead the movement!

Your body will tell you when youโ€™re feeling ready to start rehab and thereโ€™s always room to regress each movement by limiting range of motion to a comfortable point, especially if youโ€™re recovering from a C-birth.
All these exercises are a great way to slowly re-engage your core post baby and prepare your body to go back into an exercise routine - itโ€™s never too late to heal the core and make sure the pelvic floor is well supported!

Working with this amazing prenatal mama on her lateral thoracic breath and hug-the-baby core engagement ๐Ÿคฐ๐Ÿผ
Using the band for thoracic feedback on the inhalation as well as support for the protraction of the shoulders on the exhale. These breathing and core exercises play a vital role in the function of the pelvic floor during pregnancy as well as postpartum ๐ŸŒŸ

For our early morning stretch class today we partnered up to work through a few passive stretches ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
These exercises helped to get deeper into the fascia and muscles, and gave our partners the chance to feel how our muscles respond to passive movement as well as our response to resistance and how our range of motion changes with assisted stretch exercises.
