*A Tribute to Mr. Stuart Utah*
The Chapman Golf Club family remembers Mr. Stuart Utah
It is with deep sadness that we remember and pay tribute to Mr. Stuart Utah, a man whose name and story are woven into the history of Chapman Golf Club.
Mr. Utah joined Chapman in 1983, at just 20 years of age, as a bar hand. What began as a young man taking his first steps into working life became a remarkable 36-year journey of service, growth and dedication to Chapman Golf Club.
Over the years, he served in almost every facet of the club’s operations. From bar hand, he rose to Chief Barman, before moving into the Accounts Department and later the Golf Administration Office. He became Golf Administration Manager, Senior Manager and ultimately General Manager of Chapman Golf Club.
His journey was one of quiet determination. He grew with the club, learned its operations from the ground up, and became one of the people who knew Chapman inside and out.
For generations of members, Mr. Utah was more than a manager. He was a familiar face, a source of information, a person members could approach, and someone who was always willing to assist where he could.
His wealth of experience meant that there were few club matters he did not understand. He carried years of knowledge about Chapman, its members, its traditions and its day-to-day life. And perhaps most importantly, he was always willing to share that knowledge.
For those who knew him during his years at Chapman, there will be memories of conversations in the clubhouse, questions answered, problems resolved, advice given and countless interactions that may have seemed ordinary at the time, but which today become precious memories.
He witnessed generations of members come and go. He saw captains, committees and managers change. He experienced the evolution of the club and, in his own way, became part of its history.
When he left Chapman in December 2019, after 36 years of service, he left behind far more than a position. He left behind relationships, memories, knowledge and a legacy that will remain part of the Chapman story.
As members of Chapman Golf Club, we remember Mr. Stuart Utah with gratitude for his service, appreciation for his contribution, and respect for the many years he gave to this club.
To the Utah family, we extend our deepest condolences.
May you take comfort in knowing that Stuart was valued, respected and remembered by the many people whose lives he touched during his remarkable years at Chapman.
