It was a coach and players training zone...
The Knights monthly March event on Saturday the 29th of March 2025 was more like a deep training circuit with the coach and players. 13 participants took part at Mushandirapamwe hotel Machipisa Highfield the Knights Academy base. One of the players was the coach Chibvuri Snr ; who wanted to have a feel of the impressive, profound and outstanding preparation play as well as chess positional understanding of both the Jnr U16 and Jnr U14 young players. Very good chess was played on the day with great room for improvement. Noone had a perfect score of 5 over 5 this time as everyone fought aggressively for that important point in each game. Coach Vilika was the main event arbiter who did a stellar job. This time all sections were combined i.e Open, U16 and Jnr U14 so that everyone will benefit from the monthly tournament experience.
Cash prizes were given to the top 3 U16 and Jnr U14 players as well as special cash prizes to youngest players in each sections. Nevson Chida (7) was the youngest player in the event. Very good motivation for the youngsters. Best Girl Charline Musarurwa and 2nd best Tarnia Shangare in the Jnr U14 Section also got something to take home. The best player in the U16 Section was Nicole Chibvuri aged 14 who had a brilliant run of 4pts over 5 games. The top cash prize in the Jnr U14 Section was won by Chris Tapfumanei with 2pts over 5.
All cash prizes were kindly donated by Mrs M a parent. Knights Academy truly appreciate your continuous support. 🙏 The level of play by members is indeed improving due to such very competitive monthly events and as well other top events elsewhere. The Academy currently has top jnr Harare Champs who are ready to battle in the Nationals facing the best of the best youngsters from all 10 Provinces of our country in Chinhoyi this mid April. It was a good practice event for them on Saturday. We say all the best in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West province of Zimbabwe situated about 120km northwest of Harare. Chinhoyi has a network of limestone caves and tunnels that are a popular tourist destination. Let's go there as tourists as well as young chess champs!
Let's keep supporting the Academy initiatives! More very young champs are coming up in this 'Knights Academy factory!'
