ZIMBABWE 4×400m TEAM SHINES AT WORLD RELAYS
Zimbabwe’s men’s 4×400m relay team delivered a standout performance at the Debswana World Relays in Botswana this weekend.
The quartet of Gerren Muwishi, Leeford Zuze, Dennis Hove, and Thandazani Ndlovu broke the national record and secured qualification for the World Athletics Championships with a blistering semi-final time of 2:59.01.
They went on to finish fifth in the final, capping off a truly impressive showing on the international stage.

NDHLOVU TAKES 400M GOLD IN BOTSWANA
Zimbabwe's Thandazani Ndhlovu won the men’s 400m at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix in Gaborone on Sunday.
Ndhlovu ran a personal best time of 44.71 seconds to finish ahead of 2024 Olympics 4x400m gold medalist Bryce Deadmon, who was second in 44.86 seconds, while South Africa’s Adrian Swart was third in 45.52 seconds.
Uganda’s Adoni Haron was fourth place in 45.68 seconds, and Zimbabwean Dennis Hove was fifth in 45.96 seconds.
The result highlights the strength of the Zimbabwe 4x400m men's relay team ahead of the upcoming World Relays.

CHIMHINI WINS ZIMBABWE JUNIOR GOLF OPEN
Munesu Chimhini won the 2026 FCB Zimbabwe Junior Open by six shots at Borrowdale Brooke Estate in Harare. He became the first Zimbabwean male golfer to win the FCB Zimbabwe Junior Open.

SRC TOURS THE HILLS ESTATE
The Acting Director General of the Sports and Recreation Commission, Peter Mudzimiri, yesterday toured the golf course at The Hills Lifestyle Estate.
The tour was led by Ken Sharpe, CEO of West Properties, the developers of the estate.
Once complete, the facility will feature an international-standard golf course, a driving range, a swimming complex, as well as tennis and padel courts, positioning it as a premier sports and lifestyle destination.
Mr Mudzimiri was accompanied by SRC Finance Director Brian Hodza, Director of Business Development and Marketing Sheunopa Vushemakota, and Acting Director of Sports and Recreation Development Shepherd Mukanhairi.
Speaking during the tour, Mr Mudzimiri highlighted the critical role of private sector investment in developing sports infrastructure, noting that such partnerships are key to achieving the SRC’s mandate of making sport accessible to all.
Importantly, facilities such as the driving range, courts, and swimming pool will be open to the public.

ZIMBABWE NAMES TEAM FOR AFRICAN AQUATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Zimbabwe Swimming has announced the national team set to compete at the 17th Africa Aquatics Championships in Algeria from May 5–10, 2026.
Women’s Team (Captain: Paige Van der Westhuizen)
The 2024 ANSA Sportswoman of the Year leads a strong squad featuring Anje Van As, Mikayla Makwabarara, Alexis Johnsen, and Neema Bhulabhai.
Men’s Team (Captain: Paul Mwipikeni)
He leads a talented group including Ashley Berejena, Teak Watson, Connor Grist, and Musawakhe Ncube.
Coach: Chido Mwachema will guide both teams at the championships.
