A story about trauma

People called her “too emotional.”
People said she “overreacts.”
People claimed she “always loses control.”
But what they never understood was this:
Sometimes the person who snaps easily is not weak…
they are wounded.
And wounded people often live in survival mode.
Every disagreement feels like danger.
Every criticism feels personal.
Every stressful moment triggers old emotional memories.
That is why some people:
explode in anger
shut down emotionally
sabotage relationships
overthink everything
panic under pressure
burn out at work
But healing changes something powerful.
Just like a great coach transforms a football team, emotional healing transforms the mind.
A healed person still faces pressure…
but responds differently.
Not because life became easier.
But because they developed:
emotional discipline
self-awareness
emotional regulation
healthier thought patterns
inner stability
The goal of healing is not to become emotionless.
The goal is to stop giving every situation the power to control your emotions.
Growth is when:
You can be triggered…
and still remain grounded.
You can be stressed…
and still think clearly.
You can face conflict…
without destroying yourself or others.
That is not luck.
That is healing.
That is emotional maturity.
That is inner discipline.
And sometimes…
the strongest victory is simply learning not to lose yourself anymore.

People don’t fake depression, they fake being okay... And that’s where the real exhaustion begins.
Every day, people wake up and hold it together for the world. Not because they’re pretending for fun… but because explaining the pain feels heavier than carrying it.
They say “I’m fine” just to avoid questions.
They laugh in public, but go quiet when they’re alone. They stay in relationships, not because they’re happy, but because starting over feels harder.
You’ll find someone acting calm…while everything inside feels heavy. Someone smiling in pictures… but struggling to get through the day.
Someone posting a perfect life…but feeling completely disconnected from it. Someone saying “I’ve moved on”… when the truth is, they’re still hurting.
Sometimes it’s not healing…It’s just a well-practiced performance.
And the truth is, you can be surrounded by people, yet still feel alone.
But healing doesn’t start with pretending.
It starts with one honest moment.
Not with everyone… just with one person.
One safe conversation. One place where you don’t have to perform.
Because you don’t need to fake being okay.
You just need someone who is willing to listen.
Sometimes the strongest words you can say are: “I’m not okay… can we talk?”
Your life is worth that conversation. Your life is worth my time.

It’s a sad thing when we see a CHILD who is afraid of the DARK... but it is even worse when you see an adult afraid of the LIGHT.
Afraid of growth, visibility, responsibility, and becoming more… If that’s you, you don’t have to stay there I’ll help you step boldly into your light.
This quote reminds us of something we see every day, not just globally, but right here in Zimbabwe.
As children, we fear darkness because we don't understand it.
But as adults, we sometimes fear the light… because the light demands growth, accountability, and courage.
And many of us, if we're honest, struggle with stepping into that light.
What Does "Fear of the Light" Look Like in Real Life?
1. Running From Growth
Sometimes opportunities come, a promotion, a business idea, a leadership role, but instead of stepping forward, we step back.
We tell ourselves:
"I'm not ready"
"What if I fail?"
"People will judge me"
So we stay comfortable… but stuck.
2. Hiding Our Potential
Zimbabwe is full of talented people, brilliant entrepreneurs, leaders, innovators, yet many choose to blend into the crowd.
Not because they lack ability…
But because they fear visibility.
They fear:
criticism
expectations
responsibility
success itself
So they dim their own light.
3. Fear of Change
Many people stay in jobs they no longer enjoy.
Stay in environments that no longer grow them.
Stay in patterns that limit them.
Not because they can't change, But because stepping into the unknown feels uncomfortable.
4. Avoiding Responsibility for Our Lives
Sometimes the light exposes uncomfortable truths:
That we need discipline
That we need to learn new skills
That we need to change habits
That we need to confront fears
And instead of stepping into that light… we retreat into comfort.
This is the Zimbabwean Reality. We see this in:
Young professionals afraid to start businesses
Leaders afraid to innovate
Talented individuals afraid to speak up
People afraid to pursue bigger dreams
Yet Zimbabwe has always been a country of resilience, innovation, and strength.
The light is not there to expose you,
The light is there to grow you.
The Truth About Growth
Growth is uncomfortable.
Visibility is uncomfortable.
Responsibility is uncomfortable.
But that discomfort is where transformation happens.
The tragedy is not that we fear,
The tragedy is when fear keeps us from becoming who we were meant to be.
A Gentle Reminder
You don't have to step into the light alone.
If you:
Feel stuck
Fear growth
Struggle with confidence
Know you are capable of more
You don’t have to stay there.
I'll help you step boldly into your light. ✨
