It's that time of the year when Harare is hit with prolific rainfall and mild flooding in the suburb of Mbare.
Just a few weeks ago we were confronted with a deteriorating roof on the Council property we use for our Dojo.
Thanks to all of you at the FairFight team for very prompt allocation of donations which allowed us to repair the roof with new trusses, plug some very large leaks and save our ceilings which we were always having to repair and paint after every rainy season.
Here are some of our pictures (we are still to paint the trusses as soon as we get a respite in the rainfall).
We have operated independently for over 16 years with periodic support from our dedicated members to keep our operation alive and support our student community, keeping them off the streets.
We cannot express enough our appreciation to all of you at FairFight and its supporters for firstly giving us your attention, your partnership, for the resource based assistance and above all the new friends we have made in the process
THANK YOU

A good article in the UK Guardian, on one of Mbare's very own ..
Alphonso trains at the dojo regularly and inspires us always
‘I was born a fighter’: the champion boxer changing young lives in Zimbabwe Boxing helped prizefighter Arifonso Zvenyika overcome real hardship. Now he teaches the sport he loves to aspiring fighters in a Harare ghetto
Former boxing Commonwealth Light Flyweight champion , Alphonso "the Mosquito" Zvenyika, training (pre lockdown) with ladies from the community, at the Mbare dojo.
Born and bred in Mbare, his story is one of triumph over tribulation as he now gives back and imparts his craft (and more importantly lessons) to his local community.
The dojo members and Mbare community welcome their champion home 🙏🏻

Another set of pictures from our event yesterday, with the Mayor of Harare, our local Councillor and officers from our local police, together with Sensei's Nato, Moyo and Paul.
The Mayor distributed some Karate dogis for the young ladies, generously provided by Fairfight while the local police helped educate our youths on self awareness, local dangers to be aware of in the area and the pitfalls of drug abuse .
The attendees also enjoyed a barbecue after the event.
We also had Tinashe Munemo from Fairfight run a program exclusively for the young ladies on health and hygiene and distributed feminine sanitary products to the ladies kindly supplied by FairFight .
