Scott Vincent edges closer towards career milestone
Japan-based Zimbabwean golf star Scott Vincent is steadily working his way into the world’s top 100 players, and his work in the Japan Golf Tour's ISPS Handa Gatsun to tobase tournament at the weekend saw him climb to a career-high 109th on the Official World Golf Ranking.
After being in contention for what would have been his third title on the Japan Golf Tour this season, Vincent settled for a two-way tie for fifth position on the leaderboard.
He carded 66, 68, 69 and 67 for a tournament total of 14 under-par 270, three shots behind the eventual winner Ikemura Tomoyo, who celebrated his maiden Japan Golf Tour win.
Vincent has been one of the standout players on the Japan Golf Tour this season after managing two wins, a runner up finish and a further five top-10 finishes.
The gifted Zimbabwean golfer has impressed with his remarkable consistency, missing the cut only once in the 22 events he has played in this season.
This has been the main reason for his remarkable rise on the World Golf Ranking where he is now ranked 109th in the world and the ninth-highest ranked golfer on the African continent.
Vincent, who has set his sights on earning a place on the PSG Tour in the US will be hoping to continue his good form as he seeks to break into the top 100 golfers in the world before year-end. A place in the top 100 would earn Vincent invites to high profile tournaments and World Golf Championship events which would further enhance his chances of playing in the majors.

Scott shoots 63, shares lead at ANA Open
Scott Vincent defied the tough windy conditions at the Sapporo Golf Club in Kitahiroshima, Hokkaido to card a remarkable bogey free 63 in the second round of the ANA Open in Japan on Friday.
The Zimbabwean star’s scintillating round which featured nine birdies moved him to nine-under and in a share of the lead with his close friend, Jbe Kruger from South Africa.
Kruger, a former Zimbabwe Open champion, managed to keep his leader position by scoring 65. Both Vincent and Kruger have their wives as their caddies and they are all very close friends.
Bad weather is forecast for Saturday's third round but Scott is determined to get another win under his belt after putting himself in a very strong position.
