All wrapped up and ready for action 😄

One of the most common misconceptions people have about a safari in Kenya is that it’s going to be hot. It does get hot!! But early morning on the equator and especially at altitude in Laikipia (the location for our Kenya yoga retreat) are chilly!!

But we’ll make sure you’re all set - after a sunrise yoga practice will send you off on a game drive with a hot drink, a blanket and a cosy hot water bottle 😄 It’s snuggly and wonderful and watching the lions waking in the early morning glow from your safari vehicle, sipping on a hot cup of coffee is the most wonderful way to start the day 🙌🏻

One of the highlights on our Kenya retreat is 100% catching up with Najin & Fatu, the last two northern white rhinos left on the planet, and their caretaker - our sweet friend 🙏🏻

We learn something new every time we visit and we always leave feeling filled with hope because, despite the dire situation these rhinos face, people around the world are coming together in the most wonderful way to save their lives 🦏

We’re back in Kenya in July, the Maldives in November and the we’re exploring Rwanda, Uganda and Costa Rica in 2027. Wherever we go we search for meaningful encounters with our planet’s incredible wildlife and to support the boots on the ground dedicated to their preservation.

Come join us ❤️

Sound up!

Reteti is the world’s first Indigenous community-owned and community-led elephant rescue centre. It was built because the Samburu asked for it — because local warriors kept finding abandoned calves and watching them die without the support to save them. Now they have that support. Since opening in 2016, Reteti has rescued more than 150 orphaned elephants, with dozens successfully returned to the wild.

Before a calf is ever brought to the sanctuary, the rescue team waits up to 72 hours to give the mother every possible chance to return. That patience alone has reunited over 40 calves with their families. The sanctuary is always the last resort, not the first response.

The calves arrive malnourished, dehydrated, sometimes injured by predators. Each one gets blankets for warmth at night and round-the-clock care from keepers who treat them less like animals in their charge and more like children in their care. They are taken on walks in the wild four times a day; learning to find food, read predators, and interact with wild herds.

In June 2024, 13 elephants took their first steps back into the wild. The are GPS-collared, monitored, and now roam the same Namunyak landscape where they were born.

A morning at Reteti is included on an optional extensional to our Kenya retreat, and on our Wild North Private Safari.

You’re going to want to be here ❤️

New here? Welcome ❤️

At Yoga For The Wild we run yoga retreats to some of the wildest corners of our incredible world. And every retreat we lead is structured around conservation - it is the beating heart of each choice we make and our partnerships are closely and intimately nurtured to ensure our funding is going to the right places. The right people. The people making the world a better place for wild animals.

If you’re looking for travel that is heavy on the life changing experiences, light on the fancy yoga stuff, even lighter on the planet then you’ve come to right place 👯‍♀️

Hope to see you on a mat in the Kenyan wilderness or maybe floating over the ocean on a luxury live aboard in the Maldives 🙏🏻

Laura & Kat xoxo

A Gorilla Story: Told by David Attenborough, is now on Netflix and it’s going to hit you, our fellow big-hearted, wildlife loving friends right in the feels 🖤

In 1979, Attenborough filmed a sequence with a baby mountain gorilla named Pablo in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. That moment was later voted one of the greatest television moments of all time! This documentary returns to Rwanda to find Pablo’s descendants and see what they’ve been upto since that famous clip.

The crew spent 250 days filming in the mountains. The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, who we are supporting with our 2027 Uganda and Rwanda retreat have studied this specific gorilla family for nearly six decades. They served as scientific advisors so every behaviour you see on screen is real, understood, and deeply contextualised.

Mountain gorillas are now one of conservation’s rare success stories — the only great ape species whose population is actually increasing and we’re so honoured to be heading to Rwanda and Uganda next year to be a part of that exciting story 🙏🏻

A special shoutout to Yoga For The Wild supporter, friend and conservationist who worked in the production of Gorilla Story. Her excitement for this project was palpable and we’re so thrilled to see this come to life for you all at 🙌🏻

We started running group retreats because we love the magic that happens when strangers become a community in the wilderness, and the power this community creates for positive change is incredible.

But we also know that some trips are better taken with just your person. Or your family. Or your two best friends who've been talking about Africa for a decade.

Our Kenya private safaris are for you.

Same conservancies. Same lodges. Same commitment to ethical, conservation-first travel. No groups, no fixed dates. Just you and one of the most extraordinary wildlife destinations on Earth.

Minimum two people and available year-round. We've launched with two itineraries, both from $7,020 per person sharing.

Drop us a message at [email protected] — tell us your dates and we'll do the rest. 🌿
