Dear Fellow Coaches
I have not been involved in Coaching this 2026 Season after my stint in the Northern region Division 1 last year, but I will be returning back in the year 2027. However I have been following the leagues from Division 2 up to the Premier league and a certain trend has taken my attention.
I have realised that in all press conferences we are now all spending 10 minutes out of the 15 minutes talking and complaining about the referee decisions. I am not saying we should not complain if we feel certain decisions didn't go our way. But my point is when we come to press conferences we owe the public an honest assessment of the whole 90 minutes of the match. People want to know what was the game plan coming into the match, how did your players implement your game plan ?, how did you cope with the opposition? , which tactics did you implement to adapt to the opposition? , how did the changes you make change the game?.
These are the kind of things which people want to hear from us as coaches in a press conference. Like I said its not wrong for a coach to point at an incident which he feels the referee let them down. But that incident for example may come in the 64th minute....you can talk about it during the course of your analysis but lets not allow an incident that happened in the 64th minute deprive us from hearing your analysis of the match from 1st minute to 63rd minute and from 65th minute to 90th minute.
