Chapter 30: Dragon rider

Nancy got a bit nervous as they were approaching the Bloodrubi city from 10,000 feet above the ground. Wonderbee was her mount while 4 other dragons followed closely behind. Silverbee came to fly beside her as she had sensed her nervousness.
‘You have nothing to fear, princess. We have your back,’ Silverbee spoke directly into Nancy’s mind and shared her strength with her. Nancy was reassured by this.
‘Let’s lose a bit of altitude,’ she said and then they began to descend out of the clouds.
They were almost at the area where Ben was captured by the bloodrubis. She had only seen the way once so she had to refresh her memory.
‘I am activating my search magic and sharing this power with all of you. Feel free to explore around wherever it leads you.’
Nancy had Wonderbee stay with her at a higher altitude so she could monitor her team of dragons from a vantage position. Whenever Nancy’s eyes glowed green in response to her active magic, she would share sight with any dragon in her team, and any that she chose.
For instance, now she was sharing sight with Silverbee who was flying closer to the trees looking around. She switched her sight to Rasha who was way ahead now and approaching a rocky area. She pulled back her sight to herself then she said to them, ‘I found the cave.’
She set her feet on the ground and stretched herself. The dragons were waiting for her to get ready as she had shown them the cave that was the secret entrance to the Bloodrubi city.
Then she began to walk casually out of the woods to the open. Rasha began to utilize his invisibility to knock out the guards on patrol at the top of the cave. They literally didn’t see what was hitting them.
Penga charged the guards at the entrance who had seen Nancy approaching and he rammed into them like a mad bull. Because dragons were way stronger, it was not much of a problem beating a few bloodrubi guards.
One pointed his bolt spear against Nancy and incurred the wrath of Silverbee. Silverbee bit his arm and hurled him far against the cave walls like a sack of potatoes.
The other guards were quickly put to sleep by Gango’s soporific breath which spread like green smoke.
Nancy strolled into the cave. The dragons were already taking care of the guards for her so she had little to contribute. She took the opportunity to look around. This was the first time she was here, physically, so she had to make the most of it.
‘We do not know where they took Ben. Bring me one I can question,’ Nancy gave out a command.
‘On it,’ Silverbee responded. Within a few seconds, she sent a bloodrubi guard crashing at Nancy’s feet. He got up but Silverbee pushed him against a wall and stood guard. The other dragons came and glared at him so that he cowered.
“Uchitiona tauya kudai pane zvatiri kutsvaga,” (Seeing our approach, naturally we are here for something) Nancy sat on her heels and began to speak to the guard.
“Unokwanisa kutibetserawo here? Ndokumbirisawo.” (Can you help us? Please).
She didn’t even have to ask. The dragons looking at him like he was a piece of meat was enough motivation to spill everything. And he spilled everything. He told her exactly which prison facility the human who was brought in yesterday was taken to. And he told her about the uprising in the city and the reasons for it. This took Nancy by surprise.
Nancy got up so she could walk about thinking about her next move.
‘It appears Chief Belsha wants to silence his own people and that word doesn’t reach my father that he tried to have me killed.’
‘We can use the confusion of the uprising to get Ben out quickly and they won’t even come after us,’ Silverbee chimed in.
‘We could do that, but more bloodrubis will continue to be persecuted and killed by Belsha,’ Nancy was concerned that Belsha was continuing on unchecked.
‘How is that our problem exactly?’ Gango asked.
‘If Belsha remains in power then I will continue to have a target on my back. We are amending our mission. We are going after Belsha!’ Nancy declared.
‘Oh hell yeah. I like the new mission better,’ Silverbee was in support.
‘What about Ben?’ Wonderbee asked.
‘We get Belsha, we get Ben.’
‘Why even help the bloodrubis? It’s not like they asked for help,’ Gango still had questions.
‘I can’t exactly turn a blind eye,’ Nancy said.
‘Oh, I get it now. The princess is just being the princess.’
‘’Will you help me or not?’
‘We will help,’ they were all in agreement.
‘Now, where do we find Belsha?’ Nancy asked then all of them turned their heads to look at the bloodrubi guard who had squealed.
