Acacia Ridge Football Club

Acacia Ridge FQPL5 squad travelled to 3rd place Bethania Rams on Saturday with a very undermanned squad due to injuries and suspensions but once again we saw our young brigade of 17 & 18 year olds step up and put in a stellar performance.
In a very even first half Acacia Ridge took the lead thanks to a great ball from returning midfielder Jake that found striker Abdul and he cooly finished past the keeper right on the stroke of half time. The 2nd half saw more action with Acacia Ridge defending and trying to hit on the counter. this nearly paid dividends when winger Housen made a great run and cut in firing of a great shot that clipped the cross bar. with 25 minutes to go a great strike from distance found the top corner for Bethania levelling it at 1-1. with about 12 minutes to go Bethania were awarded a penalty even though the contact appear to happen outside the box. Club captain and Gk Jeremy Stout stepped up and made his 5th penalty save of the season to keep the scores even and this was how the game finished. Unfortunately this means the guys will be relegated to FQPL6 for next season but we also put a dint into the big spending Bethania's chances of promotion. It was a great effort by the entire squad.

Yesterday, our Metro team travelled to face Bayside United in the Round 21 away game and delivered an outstanding 6-0 victory!
The boys took control from the opening minute and maintained their intensity all the way to the final whistle. It was a complete team performance, with strong attacking football, excellent teamwork, and goals coming from several different players.
A special mention to our defensive unit and goalkeeper for staying focused throughout the match and securing a well-deserved clean sheet. 👏
That makes it three wins in a row, a fantastic achievement and a great reward for everyone’s hard work.

FQPL5 had a narrow 0-1 loss to Tarragindi on Saturday. The boys were the more dominant team but couldn't get the goals there effort deserved. Man Of the Match 18 year old Leo Romero came close twice with one finding the net but then bizarrely ruled out from a corner and another shot from distance forcing a fine save from there keeper.

Our FQPL U23 had there 2nd game in just 4 days and were again short on number and went out with the bare 11 and one of our metro 6 players on the bench for cover. Winger Alireza scored his 9th of the season from the penalty dot. Returning from suspension Nazir headed in the winner for a 2-1 win. Man of the match was the ever energetic right back Brandon Beecham

Our FQPL U23's took on Westside Grovelly on Wednesday night away and after playing the first half with only 10 players they held on for a hard fought win 5-4 thanks to 4 goals by 17 year old winger Alireza Saidan. Ali and midfielder Jerry shared the Man of the Match.

Today, our Metro team travelled to West End for the Round 17 away game and secured another fantastic 2-1 victory!
After winning our catch-up game on Tuesday, the boys backed it up with another strong performance today. Two games in one week and two well-earned wins, an excellent effort from the whole team! 💪
The schedule remains busy, with another two matches coming up next week. Recovery, preparation, and teamwork will be important as we look to keep this positive momentum going.

Yesterday our FQPL and U23’s took on Tarragindi Tigers at home for our 1st annual Relics Day at Ron Proud Field. We would like to thank all the past players, coaches and supporters who joined us yesterday and it was great hearing the old stories and songs and our teams loved your support. Our u23’s had a gutsy 2-1 win but unfortunately the FQPL boys fell 0-1 after being the dominant team.
