Why is having photographers at the track important?
Why is it important to support those photographers?
Because they have the memories and at times like this remind us where it all started. ๐
Thanks Dunn Photographics for this post. My very first race on bitumen in Whyalla. โญ๏ธ

Greg has made the decision to step down as Secretary for a number of reasons such as work and personal commitments, but mainly because he no longer has any personal involvement with karting since his son Edward stopped racing.
Greg believes that the role should be filled by someone new who is not only currently involved in the sport, but also someone who can
Greg will continue to support the transition for the new Secretary and will remain active as a State Official when he can (so you might still see him on the out grid or waving the chequared flag) , as well as continuing in his role as ๐๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ข๐๐๐ซ (SKA).

๐ International Womenโs Day โ Balance the Scales | Give to Gain ๐
Today, Southern Go Kart Club proudly celebrates the incredible women who help shape not only our club, but the sport of karting.
From the racers chasing the chequered flag, to the officials ensuring fair competition, the pit crews, volunteers, mums, sisters, daughters, supporters and loved ones who give their time, passion and energy โ women play a vital role in every corner of our sport.
International Womenโs Day is about โBalancing the Scalesโ โ ensuring fairness, opportunity and equality for women and girls in sport and beyond.
We are proud to support and encourage women in motorsport at every level โ from first-time drivers and junior racers, to experienced competitors, officials, volunteers and leaders within our club.
Itโs also about โGiving to Gain.โ Every time we encourage a young girl to try karting, support a female driver in the paddock, volunteer our time, or champion inclusion in our club, we help grow the sport for the next generation.
At SGKC, we believe the future of motorsport is inclusive. We will continue to support girls and women chasing their racing dreams one pink plate at a time, as we work toward the day we see a female driver lining up on that Formula 1 grid.
To the women who race, lead, volunteer and inspire โ thank you for everything you bring to our club and to karting.
Together, we continue working toward a future where the scales are balanced and every girl who dreams of racing knows that she belongs on the grid. ๐๐

Before heading back to Melbourne to be part of the , today my friend Mady (who is back in Adelaide for a few days) and I got to show Ed how we rock it out on the track and encouraged him to gove it a go๐
Safe to say he handled the pink kart pretty well ๐
Maybe karting could be his next tour stop!

๐ PINK PLATE 2026 โ RACE RECAP ๐
Travelled to Albury Wodonga Kart Club to race against 14 KA3 Junior Light girls from across Australia, including WA & Tassie. What a field ๐
Friday:
3 solid practice sessions learning the track and getting the kart dialled in.
Saturday:
Qualifying: Intense session with four of us swapping fastest laps โ qualified 2nd fastest ๐คฉ ๐ฎโ๐จ
Heat 1: Dropped from P2 to P9/10 after contact, fought back hard to P4 ๐ช
Heat 2: Battled P3โP4 all race, finished P4
๐ SUNDAY
Extreme heat so race distances were reduced (Heat 3: 12 โก๏ธ 8 laps, Final: 15 โก๏ธ 10 laps). We totally respect the duty of care, but a 10-lap final at a national event definitely leaves a what-if feeling ๐
Heat 3: Pushed again back and drove hard from P5 to cross the line P3, but a post-race penalty plus a drop down dropped me to P7 ๐
Final: Started P5, tough racing and lots of blocking, chased hard to get the girl in P3 but the flag got us forst and finished P4. Five more laps and who knows ๐
Huge congrats to Scarlett Pittam (P2) and .stevens16 on your KA3 double win ๐ฅ
Special shoutout to Madysen Fleming Motorsport #8 โ so proud of you ๐
And congrats to Jess JFRacing27 on the KA3 Senior Light Pink Plate win ๐ Told ya it was yours. ๐
This weekwnd was more than racing โ this weekend was about connection, friendship, and how special girls-only events truly are ๐
We need more of this, everywhere.
Thanks to Advanced Motorsport โ engine was unreal all weekend ๐
