What are SMART goals?

SMART goals are a way of setting goals in such a way that you are more likely to achieve those goals and keep on the right track. SMART is an acronym standing for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time based. So rather than saying, “I want to lose weight” you would make it more specific, “I want to lose 3 kg in 6 weeks by exercising 3 times a week.” This sets a target, 3 kg, in a time frame, 6 weeks, with an action, exercising 3 times a week. The relevancy then is why do you want to lose this weight? To be healthier and be able to play with my kids more.

If you are going to set a new years resolution make it SMART.
