U14 GIRLS SUMMER OPEN/JPL COACH ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Dodgers Lifer, Kate Franchi de Luri, is embracing the important role of passing on the learnings of her early basketball life to our magnificent U14 Girls. Kate is a legend of the Dodgers girls/women’s program and we are so fortunate that she is continuing this important legacy.

Kate brings an extensive playing background and a strong passion for developing young basketballers. She represented the ACT as a junior from U12 through to U18 level and played with Weston Creek Woden Dodgers from U10 through to Senior Premier League, giving her valuable experience across both junior and senior basketball.

Kate has three years of coaching experience with the Weston Creek Woden Dodgers, having coached JPL U12 Girls and, most recently, the U14 Division 1 Girls. Her playing experience, combined with her coaching background, gives her strong on-court knowledge and a thorough understanding of the game.

Her goal is to develop confident, disciplined and well-rounded players in a positive and fun environment.

U12 GIRLS SUMMER OPEN COACH ANNOUNCEMENT!!

The amazing Jodi Crichton is leading our awesome U12 Girls in their 2026 Summer Open campaign!

We are so fortunate at Dodgers to have a coach of Jodi’s knowledge, experience and determination to contribute to the deep pool of coaching expertise that we have collaborating to lead our teams.

With over 20 years of basketball experience, Jodi has played at junior and senior levels with the Dodgers and represented ACT from U12 to U18.

Since 2021, she has been coaching with the Dodgers, including U12 Boys JPL and more recently U12 JPL Girls and U12 Girls Division 1. In 2026, she was an Assistant Coach for the ACT U12 Girls and holds a Club Coaching Certificate.

Jodi is passionate about giving back to the game and helping young athletes develop their skills, confidence and love of basketball in a fun and positive environment.

Introducing 2026 U12 Boys Summer Open/JPL Super Coach, Ryan Winter!

Ryan is an amazing Coach with a demonstrated capacity to develop young players and facilitate an outstanding team environment. He is dedicated to his own growth and development as a coach, achieving multiple coaching qualifications, sports trainer qualifications and attending the Basketball Australia National Coaches Conference in 2024, 25 and 26. He has coached in the BACT JPL competition with Dodgers sinse 2023, lead the 12 and Under school sports girls in 2015 and is the current u14G Canberra Nationals head coach heading to Perth this September.

Is there anything this Coach can’t do?

We’ll…no. In short, he’s amazing!

We are so, so excited to be announcing our U16 Boys Summer Open/JPL Coach Matt Davis!

Matt is a true ACT basketball product. He came through the Canberra Junior Basketball system, represented the ACT at all ages groups from U12 to U20's, and spent over a decade with the Dodgers Senior State League as our starting point guard, he earned a competition MVP award in one year.

With about 5 years of coaching experience (including recently as assistant coach with the U19 JPL team under super coach Paul Clowry), Matt is bringing strong on-court knowledge and a clear development focus to the U16 squad.

He emphasises tough, physical defence, constantly moving and well-spaced offence, and team-oriented basketball that plays to each player’s individual strengths. Matt is passionate about building a connected group that competes hard, improves every session,
and plays with real purpose.

SUMMER OPEN COACH ANNOUNCEMENT!

It is with great excitement that we welcome Paul Clowry back to the bench to lead our U19 Boys 2026 Summer Open campaign!

Paul has been coaching basketball for almost 40 years and began coaching juniors while still competing at a high level as a player. Paul represented the ACT at National Junior Championships before playing with the Gunners as a senior player.

He began coaching representative basketball in 1996, first as an assistant coach and then head coach. While still coaching club teams, Paul took a break from representative coaching while starting a family. He returned to representative coaching in 2022 while continuing to also coach club teams. Paul coached the Daramalan girls under 16 team to a JPL championship in 2023, then coached an under 16 boys team to the championship in the 2023 Junior Summer Slam. In 2024 Paul coached the WCWD under 16 boys to an undefeated JPL season in addition to taking on the role of Assistant Coach with the ACT under 16 boys representative program.

2025 has seen a break from club coaching while leading the ACT under 18 boys at the Junior Country Basketball Cup in January and the under 18 boys ACT CRP team in the NSW JPL competition. Paul was also made a Life Member of Basketball ACT in 2025.

We are Soooo excited to see these awesome young men take the court this Summer under Paul’s expert eye!

The event will bring players, officials and fans to the national capital and provide a welcome boost for local hotels, restaurants and other businesses, while adding to Canberra’s strong calendar of sporting events.
