I once walked into a jiu-jitsu class as a white belt, weighing 138 kg and struggling to tie my own shoelaces.
I was also on the verge of alcoholism. I thought I was attending a karate trial class, but I had mixed up the days. Instead, I arrived at a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class. Reluctantly, I gave it a try—and that mistake changed my life..
Since then, I have lost 30 kg and have not had a drink in four years. Jiu Jitsu gave me accountability, purpose and a community that helped me keep showing up.
Years later, I had the privilege of competing at the World Championships for the 6th time . I say that humbly—not because I believe I am better than anyone else, but because it reminds me how far consistency can take you.
My story is not about being special. It is about starting before I felt ready and continuing to take the next step.
That is what we build at Pure Jiu Jitsu: a place where anyone can begin exactly as they are.
We are guided by Master Carlos Machado, a first cousin of the Gracie family he is my friend and Coach and is someone who inspires me to lead my team and challenge myself to grow every day..
One mixed-up day led to a completely different life. Your journey can begin with one class, one decision or simply walking through the door.
What’s holding you back .
When enough is enough..
Ultimately the ball is in your court .
