🏆 ADH Club Car WA PGA Associate Championship - A Dramatic Finish at Chequers
Three rounds. Fifty-four holes. And in the end, even that wasn’t enough to decide the 2026 ADH Club Car WA PGA Associate Championship.
After three days of competition at Chequers Golf Club, Matthew McLaughlin and Thomas Golding finished locked together at +9 on 222, sending the championship into a sudden-death playoff.
And Chequers being Chequers, one extra trip down the 18th still wasn’t enough.
The pair matched each other on the first playoff hole and headed back to the 18th tee to do it all again.
On their second trip down the final hole, McLaughlin faced an uphill putt and calmly rolled it into the cup, putting the pressure firmly onto Golding.
Golding was left with a difficult, hard-breaking left-to-right putt to keep the championship alive. He gave it every chance, but the ball slid agonisingly past the cup.
After 56 holes of golf, the championship finally had its winner.
🏆 Matthew McLaughlin - 2026 ADH Club Car WA PGA Associate Champion.
McLaughlin's rounds of 73, 76 and 73 were enough to get him into the playoff, while Golding's consistent 73, 74 and 75 ensured the title would have to be decided beyond regulation play.
Just one shot behind them was Michael Pentland, who finished outright third at +10 after rounds of 74, 74 and 75.
Isobel Dorrington was another model of consistency, recording rounds of 73, 75 and 76 to finish fourth at +11, while Callum Partington produced one of the performances of the final day. After opening with an 82, Partington followed with a 74 before firing an excellent 72 in the final round to climb into fifth at +15.

Over the three days, the Associates were given a proper examination of Chequers. At 6,044 metres and par 71, there were certainly opportunities to score, but as our members know only too well, there aren't many places around here where you can switch off and expect the course to forgive you.
The final leaderboard reflected that challenge, with the championship ultimately coming down to two players who simply refused to give way.
A huge thank you to ADH Club Car, the PGA Associates, officials, volunteers and everyone involved in bringing the championship to Chequers Golf Club. It was fantastic to have this level of competition on our course and to watch the championship decided in such dramatic fashion.
