The '26 Ngunnawal Indigenous Tennis Carnival was in full swing last Friday! First Nations & Indigenous kids across 13 schools took part in a day of culture, community and connection.

We were also fortunate to be joined by Kye Oates and Jarrah Mcleod from the ACT Brumbies who gave great insight into their rugby careers and Indigenous heritage!

Participants took part in POP tennis, tennis ball painting, Indigenous games and boomerang throwing before concluding as a group with a one point slam!

A huge thankyou to Kamberra Indigenous Cleaning for jumping in as a partner to help us make the event possible. We look forward to continuing our partnersip going forward as we select our ACT Squad for the NITC later this year.

The initiative focused on ensuring women and girls have access to essential menstrual hygiene products in a clean and support environment, particularly during training, matches and events.

National Reconciliation Week begins today, with the theme for this year 'All In'.

Tennis ACT acknowledges the Ngunnawal people as the traditional custodians of the land we meet on, and we are committed to our Reconciliation journey both on and off the court - We are 'All in'.

The art piece you see was created for our first Reconciliation Action Plan (2022). The piece includes the tennis primary colours throughout, with the Australian Open blue being the ‘hero’ colour.

The artwork is a representation of Tennis ACTs reconciliation journey so far and what’s to come. This is shown with the main feature of the artwork running through the middle. This feature includes multiple people to symbolise those who work for Tennis ACT and those who have, and will contribute to their reconciliation journey.
