1) Before Comp Day
Preparation is key! Make sure to practice intentionally, and in a way which will best prepare you for success ✨
2) On Comp Day
Try to focus on what you can control, and forget about what you cannot. And allow this focus to prepare (like step 1!) your mindset for success 🧠
3) On the Mat
Yes, having a million eyes on you is stressful. But realise, they are only on you because they believe you’re worth watching. Have a good time on the mats, and everyone watching will too! 🥳

When I first started 🥋, weight-distribution was a huge focus for me 🔍 Feeling the burn in my thighs was my sign of doing it correctly (front thigh for Zenkutsu, back for kokutsu, and both for Kiba) 🔥
While this made my form look mostly correct, doubts about function crept in when hitting bags 😥
Which made me think “Perhaps function should be at the core, with correct form being the side-effect?” 🤔
What are your thoughts on how to make an effective Zenkutsu Dachi? 💭
