⭐️🏀Coaches Spotlight🏀⭐️

This week we have the light shining on Coach Izzy! She Co-coaches our Under 12B Legacy team.

Izzy is a confident leader who works hard to encourage and build the teams skills. She has much experience and game knowledge playing club games herself for U16Gs. She draws on this experience and her own love for basketball, to provide expertise coaching in a kind and encouraging way.

You will often hear her motivating the team from the sidelines. Building their confidence and urging them to push harder. Izzy helped guide the U12B Legacy to the silver medal last season. A wonderful result for someone new to coaching.

1️⃣ How long have you been involved in basketball, and what made you want to become a coach?
🏀I’ve been involved in basketball for 6 years now and I became a coach because I love helping kids and seeing them happy and enjoying basketball.

2️⃣ What's your favourite thing about coaching at Crusaders?
🏀My favourite thing about coaching at Crusaders is that everyone is friendly and welcoming.

3️⃣ What is one lesson you hope every player learns from being on your team?
🏀 I hope every player learns to work together as a team and become close friends, but most importantly, to just enjoy playing basketball.

4️⃣ What was your most memorable basketball moment as a player or coach?
🏀My most memorable moment is winning the grand final back to back 3 years in a row.

5️⃣ If your players could describe you in three words, what would they be?
🏀Kind, funny, and a confident leader.

6️⃣ Who is your basketball idol, and why?
🏀My basketball idol is Carter Bryant because whenever he plays basketball, he doesn’t let people or mistakes affect how he plays.

7️⃣ What do you enjoy doing when you're not on the basketball court?
🏀I enjoy hanging out with all my friends.

💙🏀A huge congratulations to our very own Crusader Isla, who was presented with the Coaches Award at her U14 Girls Roar End of Season Presentation!

The Coaches Award is about so much more than basketball ability. It recognises a player who leads by example, embraces every challenge, supports those around them, and consistently gives their best with a positive attitude.

⭐️🏀Coaches Spotlight🏀⭐️

This week we have the spotlight on one of our young coaches, Ethan!

Ethan Co-coaches our Under 12B Legacy team. Ethan works hard to build a strong and positive team environment for his boys at training and during games. He has taken a step back from playing club basketball himself this year to concentrate on coaching and leading the younger teams to build their own skills. Drawing on his own game experience and love for basketball, Ethan provides a fun and encouraging coaching experience.

You will often find him with his coaching board in hand and offering a high five to his each of his players. Ethan helped guide the U10B Glory and U12B Legacy to the silver medal last season. A great result for his first coaching gig.

1️⃣ How long have you been involved in basketball, and what made you want to become a coach?
🏀I have been playing basketball for 2 and a half years, I wanted to become a coach to because I enjoy helping and teaching the kids to play the sport they love and building relationships with them.

2️⃣ What's your favourite thing about coaching at Crusaders?
🏀 My favourite thing about coaching at crusaders is the kids, they always get excited when they see me and I really enjoy laughing and joking with

3️⃣ What is one lesson you hope every player learns from being on your team?
🏀 That basketball isn’t just about the game itself but the relationships you build and the fun you have

4️⃣ What was your most memorable basketball moment as a player or coach?
🏀 Winning our first finals game

5️⃣ If your players could describe you in three words, what would they be?
🏀⁠Kind, caring and honest

6️⃣ Who is your basketball idol, and why?
🏀 Steph curry is my favourite player because even tho he is short he still finds a way to be one of the greatest scorers in NBA history

7️⃣ What do you enjoy doing when you're not on the basketball court?
🏀 Enjoy hanging out with friends, watching sports, and playing piano

Eligible Queensland families can apply for up to $200 per child (ages 5–17) to help cover sport costs.
