A very well attended and energetic black helt class tonight.

After our trip to Japan earlier this year, we started a special weekly Zoom class for our Rokudan and above.
The class gives our senior instructors from branches around the world an opportunity to train together, practise our Rokudan kata, review the senior syllabus, and ask questions about the finer details of our practice. We have separate online training sessions for Sandan, Yondan, and Godan, respectively.
This week, rokudan and nanadan came together to review our Eku kata.
Thank you to everyone for making the effort to train, particularly across different countries and time zones.
Osu!

Each Sunday morning, a small group of Jin Sei Ryu black belts come together for private Kobudō training at our Honbu Dojo.
Following the Matayoshi–Kinjo–Wong lineage, these sessions allow us to deepen our study of traditional Okinawan Kobudō and complement the extensive weapons syllabus already integrated within Jin Sei Ryu Karate-Do.
It is an opportunity to explore the weapons, kata, applications and principles in greater depth — not as something separate from our karate, but as another dimension of our ongoing Budō study.
These private Sunday sessions are open exclusively to Jin Sei Ryu black belts.

Today in class, we had students aged 11 to 80 training together.
Regardless of age or experience, everyone shares the same dojo, follows the same traditions, and works at their own level toward the same goal - to learn, improve and grow.
One of the great things about traditional karate is that the journey can begin at any age, and it can continue for a lifetime.
Different generations. Different stages of development.
Osu!

We are very pleased to announce that my good friend and Budo brother, Kaicho Grant Campbell, one of the most senior Ryuei-ryu Okinawan Karate practitioners (USA), will visit Sydney and conduct a special class at our Honbu Dojo in Darlington on Saturday, 19th September 2026, from 12 noon to 2pm.
Kaicho Grant is a World Champion in Kumite and Kata, and a well-regarded International Instructor.
Please send me a DM if you're interested in joining us on the 19th.

We’re very fortunate to have adults of all ages and ranks training together in our lunchtime classes each week.
From university students and professionals fitting in karate during their lunch breaks, to retirees in their 70s and 80s taking up a new activity, we’re lucky to share the dojo with such a diverse group of people.
We’ve offered lunchtime classes consistently for almost 20 years. Initially started by Shuseki Shihan Leigh, these classes started modestly, sometimes with just one or two students, and grew steadily over time.
A special thank you to Senpai Brian, and now Sensei Adam, who started and continue the tradition of teaching our Tuesday lunchtime classes. On Wednesday, I personally teach the general and weapons classes, assisted by our most senior black belts.
Different ages. Different ranks. Different stages of life.
The same dojo, and the same opportunity to keep learning and growing together.
Osu!

Today, we were fortunate to attend the So-Kyokushin Australian Championships. It was a well attended, organised, and competitive tournament. It was nice to finally connect with Hanshi Cameron Quinn, and re-unite with Senpai Ed Van der Maas and his daughter. Senpai Ed trained with us for many years, but has since started training at the Hunter Valley So-Kyokushin club. Osu!
